Zelensky calls Kursk operation a success as last troops leave Russian territory: ‘Mission accomplished’

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Friday called his military’s operation in Kursk Oblast a success, as the last remnants of Kyiv’s forces leave the Russian territory they have occupied since August.

Ukraine shocked the world with its bold offensive operation in the summer that at its height took control of an area about the size of Los Angeles in Kursk, Russia. The idea was to distract Russian forces from advancing on the strategically important city of Pokrovsk in southeastern Ukraine, a goal Zelensky said was achieved.

“I believe the mission is accomplished,” he said.

It’s not “mission accomplished”. It was an act of mercy. This guy is completely delusion and that makes him dangerous. I am sick of this fool.

I visited a democrat neighbor last week. He was in his garage hitting his thumb with a hammer, repeatedly. I asked just why in the world are you doing that? He replied by saying because it felt so good when he stops.

The same logic applies here to this idiot and has Kursk operation.

Oh I thought they were all surrounded and had to “surrender or die”. Guess not.

It’s called a failure when you retreat.

Yeah it was real great for Putin that after three years of war, Russian territory was occupied and he had to v bring in North Korean slave soldiers.

How on earth, after three years, was Russian territory occupied by a Ukrainian army you all said was “obliterated” over a year ago?

The Kursk stunt cost over 60K Ukrainian lives. The soldiers were sent on what was essentially a drawn out suicide mission. What else can Zelensky say in such circumstances? To admit defeat and the futility of it all would be to sign his own death warrant. He has to talk it up.

And in another recent thread it said they were all surrounded.

I’d venture to say one side, if not both, are spreading BS.

Losing 40,000 troops, untold amounts of equipment, droves of troops surrendering is a success? Just like Marioupol, Bakmut, Avidivka? A success?

St Z is a fool.

They may be out of there or they might be dead, and out of there in that way, but either way, there was no victory. Their poor troops have always been led to the slaughter. They were very brave, but doomed. Shame all the leadership of Ukraine, homegrown and foreign, were awful excuses for people.

Putin declared today that he would spare the lives of Ukrainian soldiers in Kursk ONLY if they surrendered unconditionally.

The good news is that they successfully retreated without surrendering at all — leaving Putin empty-handed and without the hostages he had hoped for.

All this Russia D sucking is preposterous. Russian territory was occupied by friggin Ukraine and they had to bring in North Korean cannon fodder to get it back.

And this was the second time Russia was invaded in this war, the first time by Putin’s own warlord.

The entire war has been a disgrace for Putin and you people are still on here crowing about mighty Russia.

A Russia that couldn’t beat Ukraine would collapse if it ever had to fight NATO.

But they don’t have to fight NATO because they can’t even get past Ukraine.
