Russia’s president, Vladimir V. Putin, dressed in fatigues, visited a command post near the front in Kursk late Wednesday to cheer on his military’s ejection of Ukrainian forces from much of the territory they had been occupying in the Russian border region.
Dressed in a green camouflage uniform, Mr. Putin sat at a desk with maps spread out in front of him, according to photos released by the Kremlin. He appeared with Russia’s top military officer, Gen. Valery V. Gerasimov.
In video footage released by Russian state media, Mr. Putin praised the Russian military formations that had taken back much of the territory captured by Ukraine in the Kursk region. He called on the troops to seize the territory for good from Ukrainian forces, who have been occupying portions of the Russian border region since last summer. Kyiv had hoped to use the territory as a bargaining chip in peace talks.
Mr. Putin has said that any temporary cease-fire or truce will only provide an advantage to Ukrainian forces, who are on the back foot on the battlefield and could use the reprieve to replenish personnel.

Where is W inviting Pooty-Poot to again visit The Ranch?
Were those fatigues left over from the Soviet Union days? Get with it Putin.
Russian troops outnumbered the Ukies by at least 4 to 1, and until Trump stopped sharing military intelligence with Ukraine, Russia was struggling to recapture territory in Kursk, even with the North Korean meat wave attacks. The whole of the Kursk incursion is an embarrassment to Putin. How many Russians were killed in Kursk?
Zelensky should have called for the cease fire two week ago when POTUS said “if I were you I would want one yesterday!”. Ukraine just lost one of their bargaining chips. Land for Land trade (even if not acre for acre) is no longer on the table.
Ukraine was stupid and foolish to take Kursk.
Must’ve been guided by Milley…that’s about how unthinking the move was executed.
Yes which is why Trump saw an opening to end this bloody fiasco that never should have started. Putin also wants it to end but won’t admit that publicly. Trump knows Putin will want to save face, and that Zelensky isn’t really in a position to demand much because he’s almost totally dependent on foreign assistance. That is why Trump is forcing a deal. They both want it but neither will admit it.
Zman’s bargaining chip , was all Buffalo chips.
Now, it’s a bloody botched job.
Zman or his NATO Nazis dont know what the hell they are doing besides wasting the lives of their men.
They fit too well to be fatigues. Must be custom tailored. When is the Kremlin Killer going to agree to a ceasefire?
They weren’t struggling...10 days ago...they had already captured 64%. The last few days was.....”clean up”.
“His motives are open to debate.”
What do you reckon his motives could be?
God bless President Putin and May a pox descend on all the houses of his enemies.
It had nothing at all to do with the pause. Anyone watching Kursk could see it coming. The Russians already had drone control over the main supply route and fire control over the other well before the pause. And the Russian soldiers were already in the pipeline.
What North Korean “meat wave attacks”? There is no evidence whatsoever for any such thing.
Kursk was an embarrassment to Putin, sure, but one he turned to his advantage. It’s a much bigger embarrassment for Zelensky. It was fool’s errand.
How many Russians killed? Far, far fewer than Ukrainians. Some estimates say Ukraine lost 60,000 of their best there. They kept pumping their best soldiers and equipment into the pocket, and the surrounding Russians kept blowing them up. It was insane.
