ACT NOW TO STOP CONGRESS FROM OVERRIDING OUR BUDGET--We Must Stand Together to Protect D.C.
DC Council ^

Dear Neighbors,
Congress is advancing a bill that threatens to override D.C.’s locally funded budget, imposing nearly $1 billion in mid-year cuts to essential services, including public safety, schools, emergency services, and sanitation. This unprecedented federal overreach treats D.C. like a federal agency rather than a self-governing city, undermining our autonomy and jeopardizing the well-being of all who live here.
This is more than just a budget cut—it is devastation at the doorstep of the collapse of D.C. as we know it. These proposed cuts will gut the very foundation of our city, erasing progress and setting us back for decades. Imagine a D.C. where ambulances don’t arrive on time, schools are overcrowded and underfunded, crime increases due to loss income and fewer police officers, and families are forced to leave because basic services no longer function. This is the reality we are facing if we do not act now. Congress is playing political games with the lives of D.C. residents, and we cannot afford to let this happen.
The Senate is scheduled to vote at 10 AM Tomorrow, March 12, 2025. We need every D.C. resident and ally to take action now. Every call, email, and voice matters.D.C. deserves better. Let’s make our voices heard and stop Congress from stripping away our future.

This gentleman, catalogs many of the sins of the DC government and then begs not to allow the US Congress to interfere in DC's "right" to home rule by over-riding this corrupt city's corrupt budget.

So remove all the unessential items and reallocate the funds to these essentials. Easy peasey, lemon squeezy.

And close down major thoroughfares for safety. Turn off traffic lights to save electricity.

No need to imagine, that what DC has right now. These people have no self-reflection.

Councilman, I suggest that you go have a look at the U.S. Constitution, specifically Article I, Section 8, Clause 17.

Congress could reduce the DC budget to zero and I bet it wouldn’t make a damn bit of difference in terms of the services provided to city residents.

It’s pretty big news her that they’re turning BLM Plaza into a street again, and there were no protests.
Wow, BLM is powerless now in DC. Who would have thought?

I could swear these people were pushing the defund the police not too long ago and they had no problem with 10 million new illegals filling our schools and hospitals which made them crowded. As to crime, they release all the criminals or don’t even bother to arrest them.
This is what Trump ran on and won. Disgusting bunch of scum.

A self-governing city would pay its own bills. (Yeah, I know that sounds like a joke)
The DC Council also sounds like Zelensky, with a smaller number of casualties. Just send us money, more money each year, and we will keep a few receipts if we can remember to do that.
