Thank you president Trump, your 7D chess playing was a gamble, but you succeeded! Morality and common sense won today in Jeddah.

A “ceasefire” just seems like an opportunity for both sides to re-arm so that in 30 days they can go back to killing lots of people on both sides. I don’t see the point. Re-arming Ukraine makes peace less likely.

Russia has not agreed to a cease fire.

“I don’t see the point. “

Indeed, the opportunity for peace must begin somewhere. One step forward.

Agree. 30 days is a brief pause. Considering everything we’ve done for Ukraine this is hardly a concession, commitment or sign of gratitude.

Ukraine wants intel for targeting from US during a ceasefire? Ah, I still don’t think Ukraine has any intention of maintaining ‘peace’.

Note that Ukraine attacked Moscow with hundreds of drones yesterday to deter Putin from seeking peace negotiations. Now Ukraine wants a ceasefire to avoid Russian retaliation.

In this case

1. The Ukrainians have a great deal to gain in replacing - and substituting - their SAM stocks. Missile stocks can be drawn down rapidly. The Ukrainians are dependent on production and transport of SAMS, all of which are imported from its suppliers; but also a degree of switching of SAM types, defenses take advantage of, say, subbing NASAMs or IRIS-T for Patriot here vs there, depending on stocks.

2. The Russians have to replace their cruise missile stocks. They tend to accumulate these until they have sufficient to attempt to swamp SAM defenses in a sufficiently large attack wave. The Russians manufacture these themselves, so its a matter of production rates.

Its all a matter of trading off cruise missiles vs SAMs. Thats been going on since 2022. This is a genuine war of materiel.

If nothing else they want info on enemy troop movements / satellite info as well as defensive info about missile launches / bomber takeoffs from Russia, which we have been providing.

Trust but verify.

Why do you want “gratitude”?
That’s purely vanity, a strange twisting of values. The Ukrainians are in a desperate, existential struggle. Why should your thirst for “gratitude” be anyone’s priority?

Ukraine has brought the world perilously close to WWIII.

That’s what you get when you deal with unserious and ungrateful people.

You little grifter is happy though so that’s all that matters to you.

Well,
Ukraine responded to Russia’s massive bombardment of Ukrainian cities which happened one or two days before.

Russian strikes on cities in eastern Ukraine kill at least 14 people

We are talking about struggles of whole peoples, many millions, in a total war. The “your little grifter” sort of focus is silly. These are not personal questions. Even leaders are part of a collective whole. Even the people who make decisions are themselves just cogs in a vast human war machine. And even the war machine is just part of that society of millions.

“Unserious and ungrateful people” - See above re “gratitude”. Your demand for that is sheer vanity. See above re total war. You yourself are part of an impersonal collective. To cite “Casablanca”, re the impersonality of all this- “the problems of three little people don’t amount to a hill of beans in this crazy world” - and thats what personalization and “gratitude” amount to, that famous “hill of beans”, in the context of many millions.

Trump would throw you out of the Oval Office for gibberish like that.

“Ukraine has brought the world perilously close to WWIII.”

Thats a - skewed? - idea. You could with far more justice say that “Russia has brought the world perilously close to WWIII.” They have after all had and have the initiative in all this. It was their choice to initiate all that has happened, and they have the ability to initiate any change in the situation. WWIII or not is entirely their decision. And they are not, note, some mass of reactive animals. “Poking the bear” is a stupid take.

As for getting blamed for endangering the world, back in Reagans day we (Reagans supporters, warmongers and etc) were flooded by such propaganda, for having the effrontery to oppose the will of the Soviet Union. Who were also credited with animalistic nature, and “poking the bear” arguments btw.

“You talk just like a wacky liberal. LOL!”

Then every historian and military analyst is and has always been a “wacky liberal”. Edward Gibbon - “Decline and Fall of the Roman Empire” (1789) - was a “wacky liberal” then.

No, you are not a serious person. And I mean that sincerely. You CAN one day be better, and understand the world as it is, in the SCALE at which it must be understood, but you will need to put in the effort.

In Reagans day I was a consulting engineer working in aerospace companies.

After that I was an engineer and engineering manager deploying much of your current industrial infrastructure. I retired long before your current politics. There is a whole world - the truly important world - that does not exist in political rhetoric.

“Thank you President Trump”

I think there is going to use of strong carrots and sticks (incentives and punishments) on both sides.

President Trump has shown Ukraine that he can and will pull the trigger on their aid flows, if they don’t play ball.

I won’t be surprised if Russia faces some strong moves too, until he has everyone’s serious attention.
