I remember when I first found out that most of the conflict in Muzlandia was Shiites versus Sunnis. That is like the Babtists waring with the Methodists.
This has been a HUGE CIA/State/USAID success story! Their ISIS/Moderate rebels/FSA etc finally evicted secular Assad. Now we can have a Sunni Wahabbist dream country!
He helped as much as we could by bombing the Syrian Army, chest bumping any Russians putting the hurt on ISIS etc. The Israelis also regularly bombed the crap out of Syrian Army positions and carefully avoided ISIS Sunni forces.

Bottom line, under Assad you could be a Christian, an Alawite, a Yazidi Kurd, A Shiite, or a Sunni, and yes, you could even be a Jew. There were a few in Damascus that predated Israel and stayed.
A woman could have a job, drive a car, marry and divorce, travel without a man’s permission, and dance on Latakia Beach to music while drinking wine made in Syria. The Syrian Army was carefully protecting their in-country image as a secular Syrian Army.
So we had to put and end to that and created ISIS, we supplied them through Timber Sycamore and Benghazi.
And all of that directly lead to the immigrant flood in Europe. This is probably the most catastrophic damage the CIA and neocons have ever accomplished. (Unless they manage to find a war to get Ukraine to go direct US/Russia force on force)

This is how wars in the Middle East usually go. Most ethnic wars there involve massacring each other’s civilians until the surviving losers move away. This is called “ethnic cleansing”. Recent examples of it are the cleansing of millions of Sunni Arabs from Iraq 2006-2008, and again from Syria during its recent civil war. UN refugee statistics on the movement of Iraqi Sunni Arabs into Syria and Jordan clearly shows the cleansing of Iraqi Sunnis by Iraqi Shia.
IMO the Alawites and Christians will flee to Lebanon and the Druze to Israel. And the Syrian Sunni refugees pushed out of Syria by the Alawites might return to Syria, or they might give the incoming Alawites the welcome they deserve. It's a tough neighborhood.
We should stay the **** out of it.
