Rubio says mineral deal ‘not main topic on agenda’ in Ukraine meeting

Secretary of State Marco Rubio told reporters on Monday that the mineral deal, sought by President Donald Trump, is "not the main topic on the agenda" for the meeting set with the Ukrainian delegation in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday.

"I wouldn't prejudge tomorrow about whether or not we have a minerals deal," he told reporters on board a flight to Saudi Arabia. "It's an important topic, but it's not the main topic on the agenda.

"The minerals deal is on the table that's continuing to be worked on – it's not part of this conversation, per se," he said, noting that Tuesday's meeting in Jeddah can be considered successful even without securing such an agreement.

The "mineral deal" is, according to what I've read about it, a barely disguised ploy to justify a presence in Ukraine of large numbers of American "employees" of scientific and industrial companies, to be used as a presumed deterrent against Putin engaging in Russian missile attacks.

Which Neocon thought that one up?

Wolfowitz, or Bolton?

You are correct. It would require us to provide “security guarantees” for US citizens in Ukraine. False flag bait.

They aren’t advising Trump.
It was either Vance or Trump himself.
One of Trumps weaknesses is latching on to a factoid that he tends to overuse.

I thought it was Zelensky who also made the offer to various European countries.

It’s a half trillion dollar trip wire without involving the military. I’m for this. The EU can provide security.

That is exactly what it is. Trump is reading the room.
Putin doesn’t want this war.
Zelensky is on the way out with pockets full of US taxpayer money.
We want repaid for the “loan” of $350B.
This saves face for everyone.

Ukraine has “security assurances”.
Putin retains what was once Russian land.
We get our money back.

What if we just sent all the H1B green card people there, you know, the ones Vivek says are smarter than US citizens? Better deal for Ukraine, they get the smarter people, and we... we get fewer of them.

If there were great minerals in Ukraine, they’d be selling them long before now.
