Did Donald Trump troll Canada into reigniting a dormant nationalism? Victor Davis Hanson argues that Trump's rhetoric has greatly impacted Canadian politics and suggests ways to resolve these tensions between them and America, including tariff adjustments and military collaborations in the Arctic.
“That whole [Liberal] Party was headed toward defeat when Donald Trump started to troll them—'Art of the Deal’—sort of goad them in bombastic style that they should be the 51st state in the union of the United States. … And the result is that a Conservative politician, Pierre Poilievre, may lose the election. … We’ve got to correct that.

Canada is NOT a friend of the US
They have been teachers off of us
You’ve been a good teacher and Canada has been a good learner.
Rabble rousing by political reptiles, Canadian ones.
I don't understand.
🤣. Teachers. But NOT Akberta, they are being leached on also.
Stupid auto Correct.
The phrase should have been: leeching off of us. I think
Teachers. I type too fast.
I suspect cowboy was autocowrecked, and meant leachers.
Ye, it keeps auto correcting on my phone.
They have not been our friends for sixty years. They have been taking advantage of our economy one that is the world’s largest. They don’t seem to understand how fortunate they are.

It was almost that long ago when they recognized Communist China.
Just got introduced to Canadian podcaster Frank Vaughn. Pretty inciteful view of Canada and Canadian politics. It was worth listening to on YouTube.
I am not concerned about current US-CAN relations because I e-personally know people (chatrooms) that live there and talk openly about their feelings about Justin Trudeau. No one has any gratifying thing to say about not just him but the state of their almost Monarchy style of gov’t. Add to that the fact that I know better to listen to the Canadian media. Things are getting better and quickly. I say let’r ride.
The Canadians can teach us a thing or two about leaching.
Perhaps this is the bottom line. Even though Pierre appears to be a decent guy and he's willing to make a good deal with USA.
Canada is a protectorate of USA. They'll have to realize that and then go from there.
That makes more sense. I thought I was going dense or something, old age catching up.
