Tech baron Elon Musk appeared to call for US sanctions against wealthy Ukrainians as a means of pushing for an end to the bloody war —

“Place sanctions on the top 10 Ukrainian oligarchs, especially the ones with mansions in Monaco, and this will stop immediately. That is the key to the puzzle,” Musk, 53, wrote on X in the wee Sunday hours.

“What I am sickened by is years of slaughter in a stalemate that Ukraine will inevitably lose. Anyone who really cares, really thinks and really understands wants the meat grinder to stop. PEACE NOW!!”

According to the news outlet Ukrainian Focus, as of September 2024, topping the list of the country’s wealthiest people was Rinat Akhmetov, owner of industrial conglomerate SCM Group. He was followed by Interpipe Group owner Viktor Pinchuk, former President Petro Poroshenko, Dneprazot owner Igor Kolomoisky, and Ferrexpo owner Konstantin Zhevago.

Most of the above-listed individuals have contributed to Kiev’s war effort. Poroshenko and Pinchuk are known to have supplied the Ukrainian army with drones and other equipment, while Akhmetov is behind a project that provides the military ammunition, transport, medical equipment and drones. He has reportedly spent the equivalent of some $274 million on the war effort in the past three years.

What needs to be done is to prepare a peace proposal that the Russians will accept that is most favorable to the residents of Ukraine.

I’m not keen on punishing rich patriots.

Kolomoisky is Zelensky’s patron, the owner of the TV channel that made comedian Zelensky a household name around Ukraine.

The future of the residents of Ukraine must be optimized given the circumstances.

The people of Ukraine should get the best possible deal and not just a deal.

"I’m not keen on punishing rich patriots."

Go to hell deep state. You supported masking, covid lockdowns and mandatory clot shots. Despicable.

He’s talking about Ukrainian patriots, dummy.

People doing what they can to support their own country are patriots of that country.

You don’t think Elon Musk is a patriot?

Rich people can be patriots or traitors, wealth doesn’t make anyone on or the other.

Since most of them and their assets are only in Europe, exactly how does Musk propose to do this?

Musk needs to shutup about foreign policy because every time he opens his mouth he makes a fool of himself and that means he damages the US because of his proximity to Trump.

I know exactly who he meant fool. One man’s patriot is another man’s oligarch. These so-called “patriots” of yours have gotten immensely rich off of our money by stealing it. You can sod off.

It’s a shame how stupid you act: The US did not send money to Ukraine, they sent equipment. And all you Russian bots like to say about the same thing: y’all tell everyone to leave... and call names. No substance in your posts...

Does that work when you beat up your wife and kids? That is meaningless here. That is a worthless thing to say and uncovers your inability to parse a relevant point.

No, it works when your wife gets all lippy when I don't have enough sex with her.
