Russian forces walked inside a gas pipeline to strike Ukrainian troops from the rear in Kursk

Russian special forces walked inside a gas pipeline to strike Ukrainian units from the rear in the Kursk region, Ukraine’s military and Russian war bloggers reported, as Moscow moves to recapture parts of its border province that Kyiv seized in a shock offensive.

According to Telegram posts by a Ukrainian-born, pro-Kremlin blogger, Russian operatives walked about 15 kilometers (9 miles) inside the pipeline, which Moscow had until recently used to send gas to Europe. Some Russian troops had spent several days in the pipe before striking Ukrainian units from the rear near the town of Sudzha, blogger Yuri Podolyaka claimed.

Another war blogger, who uses the alias Two Majors, said fierce fighting was underway for Sudzha, and that Russian forces managed to enter the town through a gas pipeline. Russian Telegram channels showed photos of what they said were special forces operatives, wearing gas masks and moving along what looked like the inside of a large pipe.

Ukraine’s General Staff confirmed on Saturday evening that Russian “sabotage and assault groups” used the pipeline in a bid to gain a foothold outside Sudzha.

I don’t know if others have seen this, I’m on twitter a lot, I don’t post but read the news articles that get posted.

Whenever one side Russia or Ukraine is reported to have scored a major victory, almost immediately twitter is lit up with articles of the other side standing in heroic opposition with the tide in the war turning in their favor.

Same goes for published websites.

They did the same thing in Avdiivka to sneak behind Ukrainian lines

Although it looks like this wasn’t as successful as that one

However it was part of a multiple prong attack all over Kursk yesterday

A very successful overall one for the Russians

Ukraine was going to use that little area as a trade off for the 20% occupied by Russia. It was "Zs"..."we gotcha now".

Z is right...He's not playing with a full deck.

I once did that through a helium pipeline. Strangely, nobody took me seriously when I emerged and demanded the other side surrender.

I saw other reports of this earlier, and posted in existing thread replies. Here are a few pics, of many I saw:

They did this over a year ago too, snuck into a city through a drainage pipe. Oh, those cagey Russians.

During his long, rambling Jan. 19 press conference, President Joe Biden made yet another major policy misstep. Russia, he suggested would face but minor consequences if it restrained itself to but a “minor incursion” into Ukraine.

Unsurprisingly, the suggestion that an invasion—if properly sized—would draw only a wrist slap left officials in Kyiv gobsmacked. So, too, were officials across Europe, as well as many in the U.S. political, foreign policy, and defense establishments.

What happened next is a full scale invasion. This is on Biden. Acually not Biden but this is on his handlers that were really the President. This was Obama's third term. His handlers were mostly from the Obama administration.

The only way the Ukraine will be preserved with its past borders is a full scale war between Russia and NATO which has a high probability of escalating to intercontinental nuclear war.

Trump is a voice of reason.

Grok summary: “On March 8, 2025, reports emerged of a failed Russian infiltration attempt via a gas pipeline near Sudzha, where Ukrainian forces ambushed and eliminated around 80-100 Russian soldiers, highlighting the intensity of the fighting.”

I have a really hard time believing this one especially as described.

Tactically it would be very difficult to achieve.

It would require extensive assistance in Ukrainian controlled territory to open the pipe and supply ventilation.

A high pressure gas line large enough to walk through takes a lot of work to open.

You can not possibly walk 9 miles on a single air bottle. Carrying multiple bottles would necessitate not carrying enough weapons and munitions to carry out an assault.

Tactically it would be a foolhardy plan. With only one exit to the pipe discovery of the attack before exiting the pipe would result in the loss of all lives. It would be impossible to fight your way out of a pipe. Retreat is impossible because the other exit of the pipe is 9 miles away and you would have exhausted your air bottles walking to the Ukrainian side.

Any commander suggesting such a plan should be demoted to Private.

Notice how this summery and report comes immediately after similar reports of Russia encircling Ukrainian troops in the Kursk Region.

Looking back this sort of tit for tat reporting happens frequently.

It could all be true, it could all be false, or some combination of the two....
