WINNING: Illegal Alien Who Served as an Aide to AOC Self-Deports from America

A former employee of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) has surrendered to President Trump and gotten out of dodge.

Migrant Insider revealed on Thursday that Diego de la Vega, an illegal alien who worked for AOC as a deputy communications director after serving on her campaign in 2021, decided that he no longer felt safe living in America and decided to self-deport to Colombia.

De la Vega arrived in America from Quito, Ecuador as a 7-year-old in 2001 on a visitor’s visa that he overstayed. He told Migrant Insider that he long lived in fear due to his status as an illegal but patted himself on the back for taking advantage of his undeserved shot at the American dream.

“It was very clear to me early on that our status was different. Even as a child, I understood what being illegal meant. We knew we had to protect ourselves,” de la Vega explained to Migrant Insider. “We lived in fear because we were not of the right status, but I had a pretty good childhood in New York.

“We worked hard, starting out in a basement apartment. But we went to school and got jobs.”

But now he feels like the United States is a place of exile for him and believes he will never return.

“It’s bittersweet. I hadn’t left the country in 23 years — from age seven to age 30,” he added. “Now, I can’t go back to the U.S. It feels like exile. It’s a very permanent move.”

“But my wife and I are confident we made the right decision. And, after some time, it’s been a real pleasure to be here.”

For her part, AOC had only positive things to say about De la Vega.

“Diego is amazing,” Ocasio-Cortez told Migrant Insider. “We love him.”

De la Vega’s self-deportation came in December, one month after President Trump won the presidential election in November. Since Trump took office, Border crossings have dropped to levels not seen in 25 years.

As CBS News reported, the U.S. Border Patrol recorded approximately 8,450 apprehensions of foreign invaders between entry points along the U.S.-Mexico border last month.

If even long-time illegals like an AOC aide are running away, imagine how many less privileged illegals have taken the hint since Trump’s epic return. The outstanding numbers Americans see on illegal immigration are likely even better than they appear.

Since he left without ‘help’ he’d be welcome back.

Anyone remember that Philipino reporter who spoke out on our immigration policy? It was pretty much in your face. I’d go looking for him.

Diego de la Vega is underplaying his criminality....
he came to the US in 2001 on a visitor’s visa and illegally overstayed.

Raises thorny questions about crimes illegal Diego de la Vega may have
committed in his US govt job......employed by AOC.....the Queens-based Democrat.

What exactly did Diego de la Vega do in Congress?

Did AOC give him access to US’ top secrets?

Did he have security clearance?

Did Diego de la Vega make top secret info available to anyone else?

Did AOC facilitate this?

How much money was involved?

Probably committed crimes. Also probably has a lot of stolen money stashed overseas. I wish AOC would join him.

“””But we went to school and got jobs.” “””

How did you get jobs without a social security number?

How were you hired by a US rep without a social security number?

--- "...he long lived in fear due to his status" as a law breaker.

This is a microcosm of the whole Democrat Party these days. Law breakers = good. Conservatives = bad.

Illegal immigrant aide to AOC self-deports to
Colombia amid questions about his govt employment

“It feels surreal to not be illegalized anymore. I don’t have to live in the shadows or constantly worry about paperwork,” said Diego de la Vega underplaying his criminality....he came to the US in 2001 on a visitor’s visa and illegally overstayed.

The news raises thorny questions about crimes illegal Diego de la Vega may
have committed in his US govt job......employed by AOC, the Queens-based Democrat.

What exactly did Diego de la Vega do in Congress?

Did he have anything to do with tens of millions
of tax dollars the US has provided Columbia?

The United States provides security assistance to Colombia to promote Colombia’s long-term stability, strengthen its security capabilities, and boost regional security. This security assistance, which totaled over $90 million in FY 2023, includes funding from a variety of sources. Jan 20, 2025

Was Columbia paying him to advance their interests
while he was in a US govt job?

Did he get a cut of the USAID millions?

Did he influence AOC’s foreign aid votes?

Ecuador’s US Foreign aid includes $39 million in development funding in 2023, and $117.3 million through USAID since 2020. Additionally, counternarcotics and counter-transnational organized crime capacity building assistance totals $81 million since 2018.

I suspect he was one of those “dreamers” who was given temporary legal status in the U.S. and a work permit. He went back to South America in December because he knew damn well that the work permit would not be renewed.

A 7-year old was issued a “visitor’s visa” that he “overstayed” on? This sounds like more left wing BS.

I doubt customs would admit a 7 year old arriving by himself on a tourist visa. Where are his parents? Did they also self deport?

How is this winning when Americans paid for an illegal to work for a woman who hates America.

There is no way AOC didn’t know.

Why wouldn’t he have a Social Security number? Oh, I see the Social Security system started requiring proof of birth in 1972. I obtained mine before then.
