Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Friday on CNBC’s “Squawk Box” that President Donald Trump’s tariffs were a “one-time price adjustment.”
Bessent said, “I don’t think it’s a radical change. It’s just a much needed course adjustment. And when we go back and look at what’s happened, there’s a new paper out called the China Shock and it talks about what happened post 2004, that some of the communities recovered, but the workers never recovered and that it was much more devastating on a human level. And what we are trying to do is make free trade fair trade, because the trading systems have become incredibly imbalanced.”

The Trump doctrine is fair trade, help with stopping drugs and illegals and claw back American offshoring/outsourcing. Anyone who is against this can FOAD. Trudeau can cry all he wants to that pathetic country of his. Poo Bear in China can FAFO as well as the cartel queen in Mexico.
I love President Trump but this doesn't surprise me. As has been often said, he needs to be taken seriously but not literally.
Wall Street and K Street/DC have been selling out Main Street to China for more than 30 years. That, and as leader of the Free World post WWII we put up with a lot of unfair trade actions by our “allies” for the last 80 years.
That era is over, is what this is about.
