The San Diego Police Department has released video footage of the officer-involved shooting that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old boy as he fled gunfire from another shooter on the night of January 28 near the Santa Fe Depot in downtown San Diego.
While police have not named the victim, the family identified him as Konoa Steven Wilson, a student at Bayside Community School in Logan Heights. Steven Wilson, the father of the deceased, told CBS 8 that his son was "a leader" who had never been in trouble before. The family has expressed deep confusion and disbelief over the circumstances of the shooting, stating that the incident "doesn't make sense." They described their son as someone who was not prone to trouble, further questioning how the situation escalated to a fatal encounter with police. On Tuesday, January 28, San Diego Police Department Officer Daniel Gold had just arrived in the area on an unrelated call when a fellow patrolman reported hearing gunfire at the historic Kettner Boulevard train station shortly before 9pm, according to SDPD officials. Just before the shots were fired, a surveillance camera captured Wilson walking on a boarding platform toward two individuals in black clothing, appearing to reach for something near his waist before suddenly running in the opposite direction.
One of the individuals in black then can be seen pulling a gun and firing at least two shots at Wilson before fleeing north with his companion. Wilson immediately ran for his life, first heading south before turning east through an open-air corridor at the depot.

Wut?
“The police officer responding to the shooting saw him running and shot him dead.”
So what you’re saying is that if I see someone running, I can just shoot them? “I was in fear of my life!! HE WAS RUNNING!!!”
You can carry concealed here if you have a permit, and they're not that hard to get either.
Legal with a CCW permit, if you can get one.
Not usually in populated counties.

At 16?
Looking at the video, the kid came running out of nowhere and nearly ran into the cop. That doesn’t make it a good shoot, but might have been a large part of how it happened.
He had it in his hand. When he fell it was laying under him, not in his pocket. Nice try... good shoot and the little scrote was not in a legal CCW status.
Wasn’t talking about his age. I’m talking about the law.
They’re determined to get another one of those big riots started. Will most likely succeed by summer.
Say his name!
A 16 year old with a gun? Yeah, that’s not suspicious. Hopefully the investigation can stay ahead of the mob.
Keep in mind California allows illegal aliens to become police officers.
I didn’t see that on the source video. It looked like the deceased was going for a gun during the initial confrontation and could not pull it out before the first shooter drew and started firing. When the cop shot I could not see a gun in hand, and the paramedics claimed the gun was in the waistband. I would think if the EMTs were going to fudge something it would be in favor of the cop.
Now it did look like the deceased was first to go for his gun during the confrontation and it is possible the gun was in his hand but when the cop shot there was clearly no pointing or threatening just a full out sprint. It did not seem there was enough time for the cop to assess if the runner was a threat or not and erred on the side of protecting himself.
If that was the case it was a bad shoot, regardless of what kind of person was coming around the corner.
Looked like the deceased was running past the cop, and was shot on the side of in the back.

They are when you are 16.
Looked like a bad shoot to me.
Points for reaction time...
