Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said Tuesday he was ready to come to the negotiating table to begin peace talks and expressed regret over last week’s meeting at the White House where he sparred with President Donald Trump and Vice President JD Vance and blew a minerals deal with the U.S.
Zelensky wrote on X:
I would like to reiterate Ukraine’s commitment to peace.
None of us wants an endless war. Ukraine is ready to come to the negotiating table as soon as possible to bring lasting peace closer. Nobody wants peace more than Ukrainians. My team and I stand ready to work under President Trump’s strong leadership to get a peace that lasts.
The tone was very different than the last 10 minutes of the meeting in the Oval Office with Trump, Vance, and other members of the cabinet who have worked to get Russia and Ukraine into peace talks, beginning with a U.S.-Ukraine mineral deal.
The meeting began amicably and went on for about 40 minutes without issue, until a Polish reporter asked Trump about being “close” to Putin. Trump initially responded, and Vance jumped in with a response, and then Zelensky challenged Vance.

There was a non-negotiable deal on the table, or a pre-negotiated one that just needed signing when he blew it up.

What is regrettable is him siding with the U.S. Communist left in favor of war. That all went to shit when Trump pulled all the money back..☺

Hasn’t he already come to (and maybe signed) an agreement wit3h the UK? Something along the lines of a “100-year agreement” by Starmer? If so, what is there to negotiate, re-negotiate, or “express regret” about?
And the article is inaccurate on something. Zelenskyy didn’t “challenge” Vance, he called him, in Russian, a “bitch”.
Add it as an amendment to the budget resolution/reconcialation bill(s).
