Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has ordered the deployment of an active-duty Stryker Brigade Combat Team and an aviation battalion to reinforce security at the United States southern border, Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell announced over the weekend.
“As directed by President Trump, Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has ordered the deployment of a Stryker Brigade Combat Team (SBCT) and General Support Aviation Battalion to reinforce and expand current border security operations to seal the border and protect the territorial integrity of the United States, a priority for the President,” Parnell said in a statement on Saturday.
“These forces will arrive in the coming weeks and their deployment underscores the Department’s unwavering dedication to working alongside the Department of Homeland Security to secure our southern border and maintain the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and security of the United States under President Trump’s leadership,” he said.
U.S. Northern Command (Northcom) said there would be approximately 2,400 soldiers from elements of the 2nd Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division, from Fort Carson, Colorado, headed to the border to augment units already there. Their locations where they will deploy to are not being disclosed at this time.

You military guys would know better...is there any chance this stuff is being sent to hit the cartels?
Or would that be a middle of the night type operations by special forces?
Not military, but I am sure someone with more insight could answer. With the recent classification of the cartels as terrorist orgs, I believe it opens up a lot of new response options.
Not to hit the cartels (at least yet) but to have forces for the Border Patrol and GIs to call on if the cartels or Mexican troops turn hostile.
Guys with pistols, rifles and shotguns, pickups and walkie talkies need a protective combat ready reaction force they can call on.

The American mafia in the US knew it was....and the one time it happened, at least that I know of, Gus Farace killed an agent on an overpass on Staten Island, where I live.
The mafia ended up killing him too.
I know a member of law enforcement was targeted and tortured to death by a cartel member...he was recently caught.
I wonder if he was rogue or the cartels just don’t care.

I live here. Take a look at what is just north of Yuma AZ.
There are more than just a couple brigades near the border.
I also understand that engineering battalions are on alert.
Put two and two together.
As for the rest of the border. I have no information.
Not to hit, it is prepping the field. Also a show of real force, cartels likely understand that messing with the actual UA military is a death sentence under Trump.
Strength brings peace and that is what this is.
Dont go near that border.
The cartels are losing millions.
They will strike out eventually.

Looks like the MSNBC, CNN and the View panelists picked the wrong week to go on crack cocaine smoking binges——again.
The strykers would be used in the border to shoot back a cartel members shooting at the Border Patrol. They typically are armed with machine guns and grenade launchers. I think we’re going to use drones and hellfire missiles on the cartel leader ship and on targets that are in the interior of Mexico.
