Norwegian Defense Minister Forced to Intervene After Fuel Supplier Threatens to Cut Off U.S. Military Vessels

A Norwegian marine fuel supplier just learned a harsh lesson in geopolitics after its attempt to cut off the U.S. military backfired spectacularly.

Haltbakk Bunkers, one of Norway’s major fuel providers, announced it would no longer supply fuel to American military vessels in Norwegian ports. The reason? A temper tantrum over President Donald Trump’s unapologetic America First foreign policy.

This stunt came after a heated exchange between President Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

Trump, standing firm with Vice President J.D. Vance by his side, reprimanded Zelensky for his entitled attitude toward U.S. aid, calling him out for refusing to engage in meaningful peace negotiations with Russia.

Polish PM Donald Tusk, speaking before his flight to London for the European Ukraine summit:

“500 million Europeans are asking 300 million Americans to defend them against 140 million Russians. [...] Europe today lacks the belief that we are truly a global force.”

That is an excellent point.

He seems to understand more than most.

We bailed them out twice already. Enough.

If I could misquote something Vaclav Havel former leader of Czechoslovakia said, “Twice this century American Mothers have sent their sons to fight and die in European Wars. If we Europeans have not learned by now how to handle our own affairs, we never shall.” Again, not an exact quote.

Russia is not too far up the coast. Could buy the fuel from them. They certainly have a lot of it.

And those Russians are not attacking those Europeans and banned never intended to. The only time Russians have wind up in Europe is after a European invasion of Russia.

And to hear a euro weeny prattle on about defending theirselves, the only invasion they face is migrants. And they love that.

I think NATO almost requires Norway to resupply us with diesel if we need it when in their neighborhood.

Tempest in a teapot, done for show.

Sparta conquered Athens. Even though it appeared they didn't have that much due to their austere and highly militaristic society. The Russians would conquer Europe today if it wasn't for the Poles and the Ukrainians in their way.

indeed ... it was inevitable that the Norwegian government would quickly step in and squash that ignorant, loudmouth bug, Gunnar Gran ... he got a great lesson in FAFO ...

No boots on the ground. We have lost too much blood, time and Treasure defending the indefensible.

NO more. If Europe wants to continue the Ukraine War, they can.

With their blood.

Norwegian Gov’t statement ...

... “We have seen reports raising concerns about support for US Navy vessels in Norway. This is not in line with the Norwegian government's policy. I can confirm that all requested support has been provided.

The U.S. and Norway maintain a close and strong defense cooperation. American forces will continue to receive the supply and support they require from Norway.” ...

Translation: A leftist-run company attempted to undermine U.S. military operations, but the Norwegian government knows better than to sever ties with its strongest ally.

The only time Russians have wind up in Europe is after a European invasion of Russia.

The Poles (1920 & 1939), the Finns (1939), Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania (1940) might beg to differ.

The Russians also had a hand in starting WWI with their mobilization.

Gran’s self-righteous post quickly spread across social media, where leftist activists and anti-Trump Europeans cheered on what they saw as a heroic act of “resistance.” But the celebration didn’t last long. After immediate backlash and embarrassment, Haltbakk Bunkers quietly deleted their statement. The Norwegian government had no choice but to intervene. Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik issued an official statement reaffirming that the Norwegian government does not support Haltbakk Bunkers’ reckless decision and that the U.S. military will continue to receive all necessary support in Norway.

You're right - we saved Europe twice and that's enough. That said it's nice to know the leaders of Norway aren't hothead jerks..

If there are other options for fuel, perhaps next time a contract comes up to provide fuel to US ships, this company should be forbidden to bid on the contract.
