UK and France to Craft a ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Ukraine Peace Plan to Present to Trump, Says PM Starmer
Breitbart ^ | 03/02/2025 | Kurt Zindulka

UK Prime Minister Sir Kier Starmer said ahead of a Lancaster House summit on Sunday that Britain and France will work to craft a Ukraine ceasefire deal that would be presented to the United States.

Echoing the language of former U.S. President George W. Bush, the Labour Party leader said that London and Paris will seek to build a “coalition of the willing” to enforce a peace in Ukraine.

The UK and France have already committed to sending troops into the former Eastern bloc nation to act as peacekeepers, but other European nations, notably Italy, Germany, and Poland, have so far shot down the idea.

“We’ve got to find those countries in Europe that are prepared to be a bit more forward-leaning,” Prime Minister Starmer said per The Telegraph.

They just want the money for themselves. They can have the money, if they are prepared to guarantee security themselves.

Why don’t they just do it themselves? It’s not our war.

Europe, outside of the NATO framework, can send whatever troops they want to Ukraine.

Here’s the plan, NATO sends peacekeeping Troops to Ukraine led by the US, Putin agrees to leave Ukraine and all the territory currently under their control.

When Putin rejects the plan, the Western Media will blame Putin for rejecting peace and escalate the situation further.

That’s a plan? Declare a cease fire and put EU troops (such as they have) in Ukraine? That’s a “plan”? I think they forgot a few important things.

I think Zelensky thought the Europeans would provide money, arms, and maybe even troops for the war against the Russians.

The British provided another $5 billion in LOANS. The UK and France will provide troops AFTER the war.

Now Europeans suddenly care about peace.

Zelensky is having a rude awakening about European leadership. They all want him to come back to America so President Trump can handle it.

The three essentials listed by Starmer for a successful peace deal were: arm the Ukrainians to put them in a position of strength; a European element to guarantee security; and a “U.S. backstop,” to prevent Putin from breaking promises.

This is what the Z man wants - a promise of a U.S. backstop, meaning that U.S. would put boots on the ground if Putin breaks the ceasefire. This demand for a U.S. backstop is precisely what President Trump said he would not agree to.

Starmer and the Z man are making identical demands of the U.S. - demands that President Trump has said no to. It will be interesting to see how Trump reacts to this BS.

“It can either be a peace support operation, which means you simply report if there is an incursion, or it can be a peace enforcement operation, which means you fight if there is an incursion. If it’s the latter, then Europe simply does not have the capabilities to be able to do that on its own.”

What part of Trump does not want the world’s two global nuclear powers facing off over a stupid border dispute that one of those nuclear super powers has no vital national security interest in does the EU not understand? The solution going forward is feckless Europe increases its capability for conventional land warfare and does not drag a nuclear super power an ocean away into their disputes. If that takes us withdrawing from NATO, so be it.

--- "UK and France to Craft a ‘Coalition of the Willing’ Ukraine Peace Plan to Present to Trump, Says PM Starmer"

Translation:

Starmer's decrepit British military will not be mobilizing to enter the war on the side of the Zelensky government in Ukraine.

Likely implications:

1) Macron's French military will not be mobilizing to enter the war on the side of the Zelensky government in Ukraine.

2) Merz' Germans will not be mobilizing to enter the war on the side of the Zelensky government in Ukraine.

3) Tusk's Polish forces will not be mobilizing to enter the war on the side of the Zelensky government in Ukraine.

Their combined "coalition of the willing" is a coalition which is unwilling to enter the land war ongoing between non-NATO Ukraine and non-NATO Russia.

This "coalition of the willing" is willing to draft strongly worded letters and make storngly worded speeches and pose for the media photographers.

Utterly ridiculous. “Peacekeepers” who are there to “enforce” a peace are no peacekeepers, they are combatants.

Putin will never agree to this plan. Trump will never agree to “backstop” European “peacekeepers” or “peace enforcers” as that would start WWIII.

The Europeans can arm and fund Ukraine until they run out of Ukrainians. Which may happen sometime later this year if things keep going the way they have been:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/dec/21/ukraine-faces-difficult-decisions-over-acute-shortage-of-frontline-troops

It looks like the only way to get a peace at this point, what with Zelensky as president and the madness of ths pfesent European leaders.
