WH: Support Rolls in for Trump After Standoff With Zelenskyy

The White House said support was pouring in for President Donald Trump and Vice President J.D. Vance from Republican lawmakers and the Cabinet in the aftermath of the explosive meeting in the Oval Office on Friday with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy that prematurely ended negotiations.

Trump and Vance both chided Zelenskyy for debating Trump in the Oval Office in front of the American media ahead of what was supposed to be a day of finalizing terms for a rare earth minerals deal that the Trump administration hoped would be the prelude to a peace deal between Ukraine and Russia to end the three-year war.

In a Truth Social post later, Trump said Zelenskyy “disrespected the United States” and “can come back when he is ready for Peace."

“Amen, Mr. President,” posted Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“I’ve never been more proud of President Trump for showing the American people — and the world — you don't trifle with this man ... He wanted to get a ceasefire. He wants to end the war and Zelenskyy felt like he needed to bait Trump in the Oval Office,” Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., said in a post to X.

Wrote Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, “I am so proud of our Commander-in-Chief. Thank you President @RealDonaldTrump and @VP for standing up for America. We will not tolerate the political games and disrespect of America. America is back.”

The rare earth minerals deal was framed by Trump as part payback for the hundreds of billions the United States sent to Ukraine during the Biden administration. However, it was also to help seed reconstruction of Ukraine once the war is over.

I understand the silliness of your post, but, pulling out of NATO won't and can't ever happen. It's the only alliance which kept Russia in check, and the U.S. is the most important member of NATO and without us, Putin and Russia get a license to go for more after Ukraine. NATO is an alliance, but in reality, it's the U.S. defense umbrella by a different name.

NATO was formed after WW2 when European countries were in shambles as a check against the Soviet Union. The Soviet Union is no more. Europe has been rebuilt. NATO is obsolete. The Europeans can take care of themselves.

Zelensky read the room wrong, when he pulled this.

He had enough communication with Trump to know exactly
what was going to happen, and tried this anyway.

Europe trashes us all the time. We bailed their asses out

I’m convinced DJT wanted those minerals and knew that they were already spoken for. He wanted Zman to renege on his promises to his other partners that were planning to shaft the USA.

You have a much better understanding of the Trump "Rare Earth" Deal than most.

Trump's purpose was to protect Ukraine AND Russian Natural Resources from Globalist Soros type Oligarchs, currently operating Uke Nazi thieves including Homo Zelensky and his Western partners,... Example: Canada owns most Uranium and Lithium, and will stop getting it if the war ends without the total victory of Zelensky, and the breakup of the Russian Federation.

At this point, Zelensky is losing in the negotiations and many would say in the war. At this point, Trump has not made any headway in tring to stop the war. And the longer the war draws out, and Zelensky and Ukraine become more neutered, the easier it will be for more Putin to gain more territory and eventually win the war. No support from the U.S. means Ukraine can't continue to repel the invasion.

Look for Ukraine to become another part of the Russian Federation within a year. There is nothing to stop Putin now, not even Trump who campaigned on ending the war.

The Soviet Union still exists, though now known as the Russian Federation. Putin aims to put all the pieces back together and once that's done, the Russian empire will have been achieved. Ukraine is the latest piece which seems ready for the taking.

No matter how weak NATO seems, and no matter how chaotic the EU has been, they are still the alliance which can put a stop to the Russian expansion. If they balk at stopping Russia now, they will be next, even if it takes Putin and Russia a decade or more to achieve their ambitions.

We should be trying to pull Russia away from China, not driving them towards China.

Russia and China and N.Korea and Iran and others, will always go their own separate way, and they will support each other as long as their largest target for destruction remains the U.S. Let's not pretend that we can be friends with them. Even if deals can be struck with any and/or all of them, they would be doing so as long as they see an advantage which they can use to strengthen themselves with and continue to come after us. We have not learned any lessons from the last 40 or so years, where China has used us to become a stronger economy and a stronger military force. What the heck do you thing they want the biggest military in the world for? If China wanted to be friends and just compete economically, why do they want the biggest and most modern military? Get a clue. China is not our friend and never will be. Russia is still ruled by the same kind of mindset from when they were the Soviet Union, so, no economic deal is going to change the way China and/or Russia view us.

We can't continue to be so naive.
