Elon Musk just revealed that the government handed the Navy $12 billion to build new submarines—and not a single submarine was built.
When investigators asked where the money went, Navy officials shrugged and said they had no idea.
“There’s a case where I think Senator Collins was telling me about how she gave the Navy $12 billion for more submarines, got no extra submarines, and then held a hearing to say where the $12 billion go.
“And they were like, we don’t know. That was it. I mean, basically, stuff is so crazy. Only the federal government could get away with this level of waste,” Musk said.
...
Maybe someone should check with General Dynamic Electric Boat division, which is in Senator Collins' district

Who’s pockets did it end up in? Someone in the navy had to be involvef , or they would have said something.

And they think this is an acceptable answer for accounting for 12 billion dollars and zero submarines.

Maybe the Navy spent all that money on submarines that were advertised on the back of magazines. Back when I was a kid, I ordered one of those. The darn thing never did work.

It takes a while to design and build a new sub. They recently launched a new one.
I'm gonna take a wait and see on this one.

Usually they build them all, rebuild them all, redesign them all, rebuilt them all, all the while maintaining them all. Then contract to have them scrapped after a decade or two of cost overruns.
We got off cheap on the subs! I think we blew well over $100Billion on the Littoral Ship fiasco.

Funny enough a blockchain replacement of USD would/should make it much harder to launder and ‘disappear’ money. Current fiat currency is a pure illusion of numbers that are created and destroyed like virtual particles.
To: george76
No, those submarines are there. You just can’t see them because they’re under water right now.
And they only come up at night once every six months. Super secret stuff. Now move along, please
