Georgescu’s political detention is a fatal mistake for Romania
Brussels Signal ^ | 2/26/25 | Gabriel Elefteriu

The most shocking political events took place on February 26 in Bucharest, where the front-runner in Romania’s presidential elections, Calin Georgescu, was seized by the police on the street in broad daylight and brought in for “questioning”. In true autocratic government style, this happened just before he was going to formally submit his candidacy to enter the electoral contest. A large number of police raids have also been ordered against members of Mr Georgescu’s campaign team and other political associates.

Background

Ostensibly, all this is related to an inquiry by the Prosecutor General into Mr Georgescu’s first presidential campaign in December last year. He shot up from relative obscurity to win the first round, held on 24 November, by a clear margin. That result was confirmed by the Constitutional Court, and Mr Georgescu was on track to win the 8 December run-off by a landslide.

The globalist autocrats are losing in the US. But they are striking back hard in fear and desperation in Europe.

The EU and UK claims an alliance with the USA based on “shared values”.

In fact there is no such thing. And we instead have tyrannical Woke Regimes in Europe and the UK that arrest the opposition and arrest people posting on social media in opposition to immigration etc.

The USA can have an alliance with tyrannical Regimes based on pragmatism. But those Regimes have to bring something.

This gang in Europe brings nothing. They don’t have natural resources. They don’t have functional military power. Their economies are largely based on unfair trade deals with the USA.

Clear them out !

Looks like it may be time for the Romanian people to party like it’s 1989 like they did with Nicolae Ceaușescu.

From what is going on in Europe these days it looks like Hitler has won in the long run. And a totally different “Master Race” is taking over.

Net US trade deficit wrt to the EU is @46 Billion (Goods and services)
Which is about 0.166% of US GDP. Or 0.227% of EU GDP.

So where did this come from?
“Their economies are largely based on unfair trade deals with the USA.”

Your assertions are senseless.

Fascist Euroweenie Daily Double today.

Milorad Dodik, president of a Serb-majority federal entity in Bosnia and Herzegovina, was sentenced to one year in prison and barred him from politics for six years. His crime? Supporting Trump and opposing NATO & EU membership.

Add services, where the US runs a surplus.

Goods trade
The EU exported €503 billion of goods to the US, while importing €347 billion. The US is the EU’s largest export partner for goods.
Services trade
The EU had a deficit of €104 billion in services trade with the US. The EU’s services imbalance is greater than with any of its other trading partners.

My reference is here.

And it says our deficit with Europe is second only to China.

And that’s CURRENT data.

Dispute it if you wish. But a reference adds credibility.

“USA trade deficit with the EU in 2024 was $236 billion dollars.”

That’s the trade-in-goods deficit with the EU. We run a surplus in trade-in-services with the EU, although the 2024 amount is not yet available. In 2023, it was about $75 billion.
