The United States joined Russia to vote against a UN General Assembly resolution condemning Russia’s war against Ukraine Monday in a stunning shift from years of US policy.
The vote against the Ukrainian and European-backed resolution saw the US at odds with its longtime European allies and instead aligned with the aggressor in the war on the three-year anniversary of Moscow’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
It came as the Trump administration has pursued discussions with Moscow about ending the war as the President Donald Trump has ratcheted up his rhetoric towards Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
The resolution was adopted by the General Assembly with 93 votes in favor.

We almost went to war over this in Cuba. Russia backed down.
They are fighting for their “freedom” because a corrupt govt listening toa corrupt NATO got them into it.
And I didn’t read where we passed a resolutoin saying Russia is our best friend now.

Yep. You beat me to it. A mediator in a conflict - and that’s what Trump is - should look neutral and impartial.
But maybe the vote is a strategic one, meant to put more pressure on Zelensky. So there’s that.
The UN resolution is worthless and useless and uncalled for, but, it’s never a good look to join with Russia against a resolution which was meant against the Russian aggression in Ukraine.
Abstention would have been better. Don’t give either side the appearance of being the favorite in a war that’s being negotiated to an end.

I agree with President Trump. He’s negotiating an end to the war right now and things are moving quickly. The resolution is a distraction.
