....Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass was made aware of the impending destructive Santa Ana winds before she left the country as part of a Biden administration delegation to Ghana. She was also aware of the dry conditions throughout the area.
She made the choice to go to Africa to represent the U.S. in a relatively insignificant ceremony in Ghana. Bass needs to own this decision instead of firing Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Kristin Crowley.

Communists have no loyalty to anyone but themselves.
Meanwhile, is anyone looking into that last mayoral election...
“...The contest was a virtual dead heat on Election Night. Caruso pulled slightly ahead last Thursday, but since then Bass gained a steady lead...”
Sound familiar...?
It may have been a good thing for the Mayor to be out of the country when the fire started.
Chief Crowley was a DEI hire. But to her credit, she spoke honestly about the deep (and unwise) budget cuts that were made to her department.
She did not mindlessly back Mayor Bass. So of course Crowley had to go.
if she can’t get out from under the bus that’s her fault, she shouldn’t have been there in the first place
Even the wimpy, democrapic worshipping denizens of lost Angeles recognize the poor governance of Karen B Ass. Instead of outrage at the indifference, incompetence, and cya vindictiveness of Karen B Ass, they can only offer a weak criticism. One even expressing the notion that if Karen B Ass owned her failures, she could be forgiven. Talk about a doormat, gaslit, battered electorate.
Well played, indeed...

LA Times Letters to the Editor: Not a good look for Mayor Bass to throw her fire chief hire under the bus to save herself.

Political fallout continues unabated as Bass announced Steve Soboroff was slated
to receive a $500,000 a rebuild LA payday for three months from different “charities.”
Bass was forced to backtrack; the Soboroff deal went over like a
lead balloon, as burned-out Californians build back from nothing.
Talk about a doormat, gaslit, battered electorate beaten into submission:
one expressed the notion that if B Ass “owned” her failures, she could be “forgiven.”
A vainglorious pipe dream.
Obviously one of her paid factotums stirring the political pot,
trying to raise Bass’ dead on arrival 3% rating in the polls.
Braindead President wannabe. Gov Newsom, is under fire
for slashing Cali’s wildfire and forest resilience funding by $101M.
Not one to waste time protecting taxpayers,
Newsom cut funding less than a year before deadly,
devastating fires tore through LA.
The Democrat signed the budget cuts into law in June 2024, severing funding from seven programs focused on preventing and battling potential wildfires in the state, reports Newsweek.

Why was LA Mayor Karen Bass in Ghana as devastating wildfires broke out?
James Liddell, Thu, January 9, 2025, yahoonews.com
As the first home in Pacific Palisades was set ablaze on Tuesday morning, Los Angeles mayor Karen Bass was absent from the city. Neither was she there when a second brush fire broke out in the Altadena area that evening, nor a third in Sylmar. Instead, Bass, a 71-year-old former congresswoman, was in Ghana.
The mayor was selected by President Joe Biden as one of his four-member presidential delegation to attend the inauguration of the African nation’s incoming president, John Dramani Mahama. As a Democratic representative for California, Bass chaired the House Foreign Affairs Subcommittee on Africa, Global Health, Global Human Rights and International Organizations between 2019 and 2022.
Despite reports of a looming fire weather on Friday afternoon – with the National Weather Service warning that conditons leant themselves to “rapid fire spread and extreme fire behavior” if ignition occurred – by Saturday, Bass was on a plane to Ghana’s capital Accra.
Three fires – Pacific, Eaton and Hurst – were racing across southern California by Tuesday evening. Hurricane-force winds of up to 100mph were fanning flames overnight, causing the blaze to travel a rate of five football fields per minute.
Bass, meanwhile, attended Mahama’s inauguration, leaving City Council President Marqueece Harris-Dawson as LA’s acting mayor when the three fires broke out.
The mayor received a raft of criticism over the timing of her trip from those on both sides of the political aisle, as well as MAGA faithful and Silicon Valley stalwart, Elon Musk, who called her “utterly incompetent”.
As Bass touched down on US soil on Wednesday morning with parts of her city turned to ash, Sky News reporter David Blevins peppered her with questions about her Ghana visit. When asked about being absent from LA when citizen’s homes began to smolder, the interviewer was met with Bass’ silence.
LA mayor Karen Bass refused to respond to wildfire criticism in a live interview.
“Chief Crowley was a DEI hire. But to her credit, she spoke honestly about the deep (and unwise) budget cuts that were made to her department.
“She did not mindlessly back Mayor Bass. So of course Crowley had to go.”
That’s exactly what I think. When the SHTF at the outset, Crowley was the only one who made any sense. She had a feeling that she’d be the scapegoat so was forthcoming about Bass weakening the LAFD. Crowley needed funds to hire or re-hire fleet maintenance staff to get 100 fire trucks back in service. Bass had cut their positions earlier, and refused to fund. There were other issues.
Some weather professional in CA said he had told Bass about the forecast for high winds that could be dangerous because of how dry everything was. She said CROWLEY didn’t tell her. When we travel, we go to this thing called “the Internet” and check the weather forecast before leaving.
Her excuses are so transparently lame. I hope she suffers serious repercussions because of (1) the tragedy, and (2) the lies.
Lib had to toss in at the end that Bass was on Official U.S. Government Business while in Ghana. They can’t help themselves.
They stole 3 REPUBLICAN HOUSE SEATS BY CONTINUING TO COUNT WELL AFTER THE ELECTION. PELOSI’S DAUGHTER WAS HEARD SAYIING SHE HAD TO GET TO CA. TO CURATE SOME BALLOTS!
Deep State knew it couldn’t steal the presidency so it stole Alaska’s repeal of RCV, the LA mayor, and all of the rest of the state and local elections it could get away with stealing.
Deep State is retrenching.
Why was Mayor Bass hot to trot to Ghana knowing disaster was
right around the corner, w/ wildfires being a distinct possibility?
A good guess.....money laundering was on the agenda.
The United States provides billions of dollars in aid and investment to Ghana each year. The US is Ghana’s largest development partner.
Aid
In 2024, the US provided over $150 million in aid to Ghana to support health, agriculture, education, and more The US has also provided millions of dollars to help strengthen Ghana’s education system, improve health services, and more
Investment
The US has invested in Ghana through the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC)
The US has also helped Ghana’s elections be peaceful and transparent
Trade
In 2022, the US exported $975 million in goods to Ghana In 2022, Ghana exported $2.83 billion in goods to the US, including crude petroleum, cocoa beans, and cocoa paste
The US has a Trade & Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA) with Ghana
Other cooperation
The US and Ghana are close allies in addressing regional and international security issues
The US and Ghana have cooperated on joint training exercises.
Ghana is part of the State Partnership Program, that pairs Ghana with state Armed Forces.
This firing stupidity is part of Bass’ crisis management PR, to deflect blame
from herself for abandoning her constituents and globe-trotting to Africa.
Bizarrely, the desperate braindead Democrat says she is opening
an investigation into why “no one stopped her” from going to Ghana.
Bass moronically told Fox 11-tv just days before firing Crowley: “We need to look at the preparation for the fires. I think we will find that there were warnings - that I frankly wasn’t aware of...”
Even though her office issued a fire alert the day before she slithered off to Africa.
