It should be no surprise to TGP readers that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy is not a trustworthy ‘partner.’ Still, a recent meeting Zelenskyy had with top Trump Administration officials proves beyond all doubt that he remains a key obstacle to peace.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio sat down with former CBS News correspondent Catherine Herridge for an exclusive interview this week to discuss an array of foreign policy issues, including Ukraine, America’s proposal for Gaza, preventing Iranian nuclear weapons, and more.
The conversation took a turn when Ukraine and Zelenskyy came up. After Herridge asked Rubio about Trump’s Truth Social post where he called Zelenskyy a dictator, the Secretary of State pointed out that even Joe Biden had plenty of “frustrations” with the Ukrainian President as well.
This included a phone where Biden swore at Zelenskyy for being ungrateful about the overly generous aid America had bestowed on his country.
Rubio shared details about a recent meeting he and Vance had with the Ukrainian President, which will make you furious.
“I was personally very upset because we (Vance) had a conversation with President Zelenskyy, and we discussed this issue about the mineral rights,” Rubio said. “We explained to them, ‘Look, we want to be in a joint venture with you because we think that is a security guarantee because we are your partner in an endeavor. We get to be paid back some of the money American taxpayers have given, close to $200 billion.”
Zelenskyy committed to the deal, only for Rubio and Vance to find out later that he had lied to their faces.
“And he said, ‘Sure, we want to do this deal. It makes all the sense in the world. The only thing is I need to run it through my legislative process,’ Rubio added. “I read two days later that Zelenskyy is saying, ‘I rejected the deal,’ but that’s not what happened.”

Trump, Putin meeting depends on progress to end Ukraine war
“…when that meeting happens will largely depend on whether we can make any progress on ending the war in Ukraine, and if we can and that meeting is what seals the deal, I think everybody should… https://t.co/t5BReWwgtj pic.twitter.com/qLBV6a6Vgl

Vance confirmed Rubio’s account of the meeting on X on Friday.
“What Secretary Rubio is saying here is exactly right,” he wrote.

As The Gateway Pundit’s Cassandra MacDonald reported, Zelenskyy made a similar promise to President Trump earlier this month. Trump had been pushing for $500 billion in rare earth minerals from Ukraine in exchange for continued military aid.
With so-called ‘allies’ like Ukraine, who needs enemies?
The fact that Rubio, of all people, is saying it, tells you a lot.
Did they really think he’s been anything but someone else’s puppet all along?
Am almost to the point of saying we should immediately order our troops in Poland, etc, to invade Ukraine and clean out that purple pissing nest once and for all.
Load all of the ‘Palestinians’ (foreign AND domestic) onto a plane going to ‘Mecca’.
Instead of Saudi Arabia, send them to Ukraine. The back of the plane as it leaves SA should be the last American thing any of them see.
Let Russia have the hell-hole/money pit known as Ukraine - and they can hang the wannabe comedian from a lamppost if they want to as well.
He was our puppet. Rubio was a director of one of the CIA slush funds.
For some reason, they want him out. Maybe some of you know if it happened around the same time as he started running off at the mouth about the missing funds.
Someone wants him gone. This is not about Trump wanting him gone.
The whole damn continent is a bunch of ingrates. I’ve had it with all the MFs.
Ukraine is not even mentioned on the spreadsheet of individual country oil reserves. As in 0.
They are listed as having 1 Trillion cubic meters of gas.
Russia’s endowment is 37.4 trillion cubic meters, largest in the world. Iran 32. Qatar 25. Saudis 6. US about 14. A glance down the spreadsheet puts Ukraine in about 25th place in nat gas reserves.
They have 1/14th of US reserves. If the US wants to buy minerals from Ukraine, it ain’t the stuff that matters like oil and gas, and it almost assuredly ain’t stuff you can’t get easier from somewhere else.
…..tantalum, beryllium and niobium
Not just a US puppet. Maybe squeezing for the deal they want? He’s not particularly stable or sober, as I understand it, so he probably knows to much to be out there as a loose cannon. And, he’s no longer useful.
I feel that the position, as an American, of supporting either:
Little Z (with George Soros and his merry band of NGO’s and Taxpayer grifting) or Vlad the Invader, is a Horrific choice.
Neither deserve my support, or the support of other Americans.
The people that I support are the poor Ukrainian farmers and people that have to have war on their doorstep everyday. Hopefully, Trump can push both sides into peace.
The whole damn continent is a bunch of ingrates. I’ve had it with all the MFs.
Let’s drop the big one!
That little runt needs to be, well, put in his place.
Those are not listed on the spreadsheet.
Don’t know the US endowment of such things (which are not on the rare element category) ror the endowment of places like Canada or Australia, from whom it would clearly be easier to get it.
It is usually pointless to try to chase down numbers for such items. Recent cause for propaganda corrupts accuracy.
If there were a BP-like source, published annually for 70 years, then you have data.
Poor Zelenski is at a loss. He is no longer dealing with a demented perv and the “children/incompetents” that ran his administration, nor the corrupt grifters that were/are laundering money through Ukraine because the faucet is being turned off.
A real journalist unlike the current CBS crowd such as Margaret Brennan.
When you talk about “the incompetents who ran his administration”, be aware that US war policy has not been directed by any President or administration, not for a long, long time.
Personally, I don’t think such a deal would be wise for the US to make. The potential liabilities involved in such a deal far outweigh the potential benefits of such a deal for US taxpayers. Who could most likely win on such a deal in American circles are like the great American Artist & Oil Executive for Burisma where the request of Trump to Zelinsky to have this investigated resulted in the very 1st time in American History that a federal elected official was impeached with a “disqualified to hold office” clause approved in the Articles of Impeachment & the great Artist & Oil Executive ended up getting a full pardon from 2014-2024 and keeping his profits. The “Socialize the Losses, Privatize the Profits” strategy of Beltway Grifters is never going to go away. What we should do is minimize such risks being put on the backs of American taxpayers and protect the taxpayers from these grifters.
IIRC the US is endowed with plenty of “rare earth” elements. Our problem is we are overly well endowed with green anti-mining zealots and lawyers which together make it very difficult to extract our own supply. Getting them from some friendly ‘elsewhere’ moves the mess out of sight of our greenies and out of the jurisdiction of our lawyers. If Ukraine is as corrupt as some here say then getting local legal permission to mine them would be relatively easier than from Canada or Australia which have some of our green lawyer problems. There aren’t any green lawyer problems with China controlled sources - the defect present suppliers - but they are nor more friendly nor easily bullied into submission than Russian controlled sources would be.

I didn’t think Little Marco had it in him. He’s come a long way since the Gang of Eight.
