Fetal acetaminophen exposure increases the likelihood that a child will develop attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), according to a study published Feb. 6 in Nature Mental Health.
Prior research shows that upward of 70% of pregnant women use acetaminophen during pregnancy to control pain or reduce fever. The drug, which is the active ingredient of many pain-relief medications, is one of the few considered safe to take during pregnancy by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. The new findings suggest, however, that doctors should reconsider prescribing medications with acetaminophen to mothers during pregnancy, the researchers said.
“Most of the prior studies asked women to self-report whether they had taken Tylenol or anything that contained acetaminophen,” said lead author Brennan Baker, a researcher at Seattle Children’s Research Institute. Baker also works in the lab of Dr. Sheela Sathyanarayana, a UW Medicine pediatrician.
“This medication was also approved decades ago, and may need reevaluation by the FDA,” said Sathyanarayana, the paper’s senior author. “Acetaminophen was never evaluated for fetal exposures in relations to long-term neurodevelopmental impacts.”

Im in board with a study. The rapid rise in the autism of children has me unhappy with our CDC and FDA
The scope for autism is soooooo broad now....if your child doesn’t look at you when you speak...is now a sign of autism
there are lots of chemicals and less studies on most.
I wonder what the studies on the Vaxx will show
(assuming there are any done which I doubt)
I have noticed massive changes in the aggressiveness of those vaxxed, especially while driving but my study will never be funded.
Anything, but the things.
I have noticed massive changes in the aggressiveness of those vaxxed, especially while driving ….
For better, or worse?
So, now pregnant women are being told they can’t even take a Tylenol? Then what can they take without being blamed for less than preferable results?
I’m wondering if some pregnant women have to learn to hear but not listen to so much free advice
Acetaminophen may also reduce one’s empathy for pain. In a double-blind, placebo-controlled study with over 200 participants, researchers at Ohio State University found that subjects given 1,000mg of acetaminophen expressed less empathy compared to those given a placebo when “reading scenarios about another’s physical or social pain, witnessing ostracism in the lab, or visualizing another study participant receiving painful noise blasts.”

Acetaminophen monkeys with the endocannabinoid system, a system involved in regulating social behavior.
The acetaminophen autism link has been known for a while.
It’s not the only cause but could damage susceptible children.
People over 65 either.

Anything to pivot attention away from vaccines…
Anyone thinking of taking acetaminophen should first read the side-effects at the Mayo Clinic website. IF everyone would read it then the manufacturers of that poison would go out of business in a few days.
“So, now pregnant women are being told they can’t even take a Tylenol?”
I suggest to you, sir, that you read the side-effects of the poison named, “Tylenol,” and all of the generic acetaminophen versions.
That is correct. I’ve been taking it at max dose for over a decade, no health issues from it. BUT the rest damage my GI tract bad. Lived on 40 mg Nexium a day. Till I found Apple Cider Vinagar with Mothers stopped the GERD.
.
My doctor told me not to take any acetaminophen, ibuprofen, or aspirin when I had my babies in 1995 and 2001, so this doesn’t seem like new information. My doctor was old fashioned, though.
Wow, I am glad I don’t take it.
Seems like hospitals love to give it out like candy though.
Safety is one issue. But the effectiveness of acetaminophen for pain relief is pretty marginal if it is not combined with something else.
My mom’s doctor thinks it’s worthless.
