Along Ukraine's frontline, the war rages on. But global attention spanned thousands of miles away today, as representatives from Russia and the US met in Saudi Arabia to discuss an end to the conflict.
Uninvited to those talks, and in Turkey instead, was Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky.
He made it known he won't accept a deal made about Ukraine without Ukraine's involvement, and that he wouldn't recognise parts of Ukraine occupied by Russia.
Speaking after the meeting, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov called the talks "useful", but said any type of peacekeeping forces in Ukraine would be "completely unacceptable".
Marco Rubio, US Secretary of State, told reporters he's "convinced" that Russia is willing to engage in a serious process of ending the war. Referencing criticisms from Ukraine's European allies, who also missed an invite, he said nobody was "sidelined" from the meeting.
Up next, the countries said they would appoint teams to negotiate ending the Ukraine war. But they said they are no closer to arranging a meeting between Trump and Putin.
Looking downcast, Zelensky told reported in Turkey that he had postponed his visit to Saudi Arabia this week until mid-March, after the results from today's talks came to light.

Nor should they. I don’t care a spit in a bucket for Russia, but we wouldn’t accept their troops in Mexico or Canada.
Ukraine neutral. No NATO Troops.
It’s what will be.
Because that is what it has to be.
Everyone knew it from the start.
But, the Grifters gotta Grift.
They sacrificed an entire generation for money.
The Africa Grift is rolling up again.
As always, watch the Money.
I hope we didnt even bother to ask.
The fewer “peace keepers” the more peace.
The UN has shown us that.
It was always a retarded idea. The main two things are Ukrainian Nazi depredations and stopping NATO’s spread into NATO.
Our suggestion? “OK, no NATO. But if you sign a cease fire, we’ll flood in tens of thousands of French, British and other soldiers from NATO countries, build up the Uke military again, and have an agreement with the Ukes that if Ukraine is attacked, we will come to Ukraine’s defense..... but yeah, ok, they will not be official “NATO members”.
Neocon and globalist world. Semantics and word games.
Why would they? They Russians are winning.
NATO encroachment was a big cause of the war.
Do you think the Russians are stupid? They would have to be to give up when they are taking it all. The Ukrainian Army is about to collapse. The Ukraine is out of men, money and options.
Thinking any of that will change is delusional.
What a surprise! The Russians have only been saying that for like 2 years now.
Heck, Russia shouldn't accept Zelenskysky's Ukrainian troops in Ukraine.
That is a silly remark, America isn’t Russia, North America isn’t Europe, and Canada and Mexico and the U.S. have nothing similar with the situation of Russia, Ukraine, the Baltics, Poland, Finland, Europe etc., and Russia’s permanent threat to Europe, the world and America.
clee1, are you o.k. with Russians in Cuba, Nicaragua and Venezuela?
"They" is Zelensky, Nuland, and their criminal cohorts.
Zelensky and Nuland sure like sending white Christian males to their deaths.
“How about South Korean, Philippine, or Indian troops?”
Chinese?
The war-mongers kept trying to get a NATO presence within 300 miles of downtown Moscow. Russia wasn't buying.
A person would have to be idiotic to fall for that deal. Russia is famous as a hotbed of chess playing. I cannot fathom how the DC/London axis thinks if they rip the NATO patches off their soldiers and put on French or Brit patches and say ok, they aren’t NATO.
This is gonna be a fascinating negotiation to watch. The globalists still think Russia is not honest or serious about their stated position. The Ruskis are smart enough to understand that any tolerance of western forces in Ukraine will be permanent and will expand into full NATO one random morning with an announcement that “as of 7am today, blah blah… new NATO member Ukraine…”
Trust betrayed. Will not go well in the history books.
