England's most senior judge says she is "deeply troubled" by Sir Keir Starmer and Kemi Badenoch's exchange about a Gazan family coming to the UK under the Ukraine scheme.

The Lady Chief Justice voiced her concern after the prime minister said a judge had made the "wrong decision" by letting a family of six from Gaza settle in the UK under a Ukrainian refugee scheme.

The prime minister pledged to close the "loophole"...

Baroness Carr said on Tuesday: "Both question and the answer were unacceptable.

"It is for the government visibly to respect and protect the independence of the judiciary.

"Where parties, including the government, disagree with their findings, they should do so through the appellate process."

“The most bizarre decision and she’s defending it”

Liberals make emotional decisions. They know they are right because it “feels” right. Last person on Earth you’d want to Judge anything.

In the article the Tory leader does at least point out parliament is sovereign and the judges interpret the laws not make them.

In the UK they have never been independent like in the US (i.e a third branch etc). All of a sudden they’re claiming this independence...

The Lady Baroness high-Priestess right honorable fat judge in a Santa costume with ridiculous hair seems to be complaining that the Prime Minister is complaining, instead of suing. Pretty soon they will all censor and imprison each other for hate speech.

“Of all tyrannies, a tyranny sincerely exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron’s cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated, but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience.”

What mandate does a judge have to decide government policy?

A supreme court is a foreign idea that does not fit well with the British constitution.

Under the old rules, the supreme court was the law lords within Parliament appointed and accountable to the Attorney General a member of the cabinet.

Now they are unaccountable to anyone and are legislating from the bench with no mandate.
