Dallas-based Southwest Airlines announces mass layoffs, cutting 15% of corporate workforce

DALLAS, Texas (KWTX) - Southwest Airlines has announced an “unprecedented” mass layoff, cutting over 1,700 jobs.

Monday, Southwest announced it is cutting 15% of its corporate and leadership workforce.

“This decision is unprecedented in our 53-year history,” Southwest President and CEO Bob Jordan said in a statement.

Southwest said the 1,750 layoffs won’t start until late April. Southwest said most employees who are notified of their “displacement” will not continue to work but will continue to receive salary, benefits and bonus, if eligible, until April.

I've always contended that implemented this long-needed correction will make things worse before it gets better.

Based on recent flight experiences, it's the loss of illegal alien transportation revenues.

Every flight I have been on has been full and lots of illegals being trafficked on the flights .

At Tucson International they had an NGO that took over an entire airport hotel and filled it with government funded illegal aliens to traffic around the country. They would figure out how many seats on flights were available and then fill the available seats on the planes.

It's much worse on other majors so expect a little belt tightening.

On some American flights it seemed like over the half the passengers were illegals.

At some point the government and the airlines stopped even even the most basic pretense at covering up the situation.

Illegal alien trafficking has been propping up our airlines since covid.

In addition to packed flight full of illegals, the airlines have been also been packing the cabin crews with DEI hires and there is a difference.

These new hires seem to be chosen for the jobs based solely on their DEI intersectionality rating scores so minority, obese, mentally challenged and LGBTQ+ (all in the same person ) attendants seem to rule the skies these days.

I have stopped complain about the white haired , granny flight attendants and as far as I;m concerned they stay at it using walkers to deliver my coffee and peanuts. .

I try hard not look in on the fight decks when boarding.

Yeah, on occasion you will not be comfortable with what you see in the cockpit. They are trying hard to stop using that term as well. I hate virtual signaling pansies (the other word omitted so I don’t get banned).

My low point flying was when the (obviously) DEI hire TSA security screener could not figure out how to get my drivers license to scan on the auto scanners and had no idea how to enter the license number manually so she called my ID defective or false and called security.

I was held up while, illegal aliens with no ID what so ever were being waved through the TSA VIP line and were being personally escorted through the system by TSA agents.

Their new NGO supplied carry on luggage and their new NGO supplied iPhones were not sent through the x ray scanner, they did not have to take off their shoes, belts or empty their pocket and they were ushered around the metal detectors and the nude body scanners and led to their gates. .

After about 30 minutes of this, I requested a TSA supervisor who got my ID scanned and entered into the system no problem but made me go through the full monty personal inspection - opening up all my carry on and swabbing me down to use their forensic test machines to test for contraband or explosives.

Took so long I missed my flight due to TSA induced delays.

While the illegals literally received concierge VIP treatment and were escorted through the system.. .

The next flight out was canceled due to mechanical failure so I had to get a hotel and take the first flight out in the morning.
