Germany set to reject Keir Starmer's plan to put troops in Ukraine

Germany is likely to reject Sir Keir Starmer's plan to send a European peacekeeping force into Ukraine, according to reports.

The UK and France are set to propose deploying soldiers to Kyiv if there is a deal to end the war with Russia, but Germany and Poland are said to be against the move.

It comes as European leaders are meeting in Paris this afternoon as they scramble for a strategy in response to US President Donald Trump's push for an agreement with Vladimir Putin.

A diplomatic source told The Telegraph: “The whole discussion is moot without both Germany and Poland’s participation."

The Prime Minister was pictured arriving at the Elysee Palace shortly before 3pm on Monday afternoon and shook the hand of French President Emmanuel Macron before heading inside.

Mark Rutte, the secretary-general of Nato followed Sir Keir into the building shortly afterwards, and the German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and the Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez have also been pictured arriving.

The gathering in Paris comes as US secretary of state Marco Rubio is leading a delegation to Saudi Arabia for talks with Russian officials that will look to seek an end to the fighting.

Starmer is worse than even Trudeau.

Starmer’s numbers are already low enough. This is just going to pump Reform higher.

Starmer is an idiot... This is European Union problem... And the Brits aren’t in the European union.

Let them decide what they want to do, but they and they alone should be supplying all the troops and they have more than enough EU countries to fill that void. As for the German’s... Given their sordid and violent history they shouldn’t be providing troops for anything. But there are plenty of military units available from other EU countries including Spain and Italy, and Poland should get off their asses too.

I understand Poland’s neutrality due to their history of being under Russian occupation for centuries.

And the Brits aren’t in the European union.

They’re barely even Brits anymore.

About one century: Congress of Vienna to World War I.

They’re up there too. All of them are a cancer. None of them are easily put out of office it’s frustrating. Their people hate them but are powerless.

Giorgia Meloni appears to be the only one who's somewhat okay.

Otherwise, in every major Western country. Every leader is exactly the same.

Even here in USA, we had Obama.

That’s why everybody in Europe wants to move to Poland... They do not accept any illegals... Ever! You can immigrate, but you need to do it legally... Go figure.

The UK is offering illegals housing, money and healthcare... So guess where all the illegals are heading to?

Well surprise surprise.

None of them are going to put any troops in there. They are just going to shoot their snooty little mouths off.

Poland is watching out for themselves.

My guess is that they think it's time to wrap up the war in Ukraine.

But of course, they're not going to say it out loud.

They're letting the Americans take all the heat instead.

you’re right. That makes more sense.

They’ve been screaming so loud about the dangers of Russia.

they can’t now say “just end the darn thing!”

Go ahead Starmer, Vlads offer of eliminating all western troops still stands….and he has done a great job so far. Most western mercenaries are now gone, either dead or they ran tail back home.

Vlad still holds all the cards, it will end when he decides it to end. No NATO, Ukie Constitutional neutrality, no peace keeping forces, no phoney DMZ, no fake western security guarantees…

The West lied repeatedly to Russia since 2014, I don’t blame them one bit for not trusting them ever again…..the only card President Trump may hold is restoring trade and commerce, which would benefit a strangled EU more than Russia. A fully disarmed, demilitarized Ukraine is the only answer.

They’re little more than a Monty Python skit.

Nobody, and I mean NOBODY takes them seriously.

It is amazing to read forecasts of the future, passing off as if news.

Note the language: "Germany is likely [ wiggle word, placed in the future, and therefore speculative ] to reject...."

Such is the media today, with Britain in the lead downward....

One of them is getting thrown off the island. And it will be Trump doing the tossing. The EU has to figure out their own internal politics before handling Ukraine. Germany buys Russian oil at high prices. No one gives a squat about France. Great Britain is aspiring to be Jeb Bush.

We can sell oil cheaper to the Germans. That alone can collapse Russia’s entire economic infrastructure. Add in LNG exports at low reciprocal tariffs, Russia is coming to the table to listen to Trump say “I told you so!

And still no one cares about France.
