Denmark is about the same population and twice the area of the Atlanta MSA. Which is to say, it simply isn’t that big, and isn’t capable of protecting Denmark from a determined China or even Russia. It is time to face up to reality here, they got their protection from NATO, and from a maritime perspective, that meant from the US. From a geostrategic standpoint, it’s in the Western hemisphere, can affect polar transit and defense, and it’s time to review its status.
A color revolution in Greenland?
All I can remember is the people were saying when we visit Denmark the local people were rude and told us to go home you dont belong here. Not surprised they want out from under denmark, not a great role model
I think Denmark already gets that?
If the US actually acquires it, its going to be because we made the Greenlanders a very good financial offer so they declared independence and voted for it by referendum and then passed another referendum to become a US Territory. I don’t really think Denmark is going to have a say.

The Cold War is over. So why are we still in NATO?
The EU should be in charge of NATO. Let them figure out what to do with the future of the alliance.
The population is too small to support real independence. But why do we need to own Greenland? Access to rare minerals can be gained through economic and diplomatic means. Trump’s ego for closing a YUGE real estate deal is not sufficient reason. I’m grateful for president Trump, but am not deceived about his shortcomings.

During the pilot’s preflight check, he discovered that the aircraft’s latrine holding tank was still full from the last flight. So a message was sent to the base, and an airman who was off duty is called out to take care of it.
The young man finally got to the air base and made his way to the aircraft, only to find that the latrine pump truck had been left outdoors and was frozen solid, so he had to find another one in the hangar, which takes even more time. He returned to the aircraft and was less than enthusiastic about what he had to do. Nevertheless, he went about the pumping job deliberately and carefully (and slowly) so as to not risk criticism later.
As he’s left the plane, the pilot stopped him and said, “Son, your attitude and performance has caused this flight to be late, and I’m going to personally see to it that you are not just reprimanded, but punished.”
Shivering in the cold, his task finished, the airman took a deep breath, stood up tall and said, “Sir, with all due respect, I’m not your son; I’m an Airman in the United States Air Force. I’ve been in Thule, Greenland for 11 months without any leave, and the reindeer are beginning to look pretty good to me. I have one stripe, it’s two-thirty in the morning, the temperature is 40 degrees below zero and my job here is to pump crap from your aircraft. Now just exactly what form of punishment did you have in mind?”
