Europe quietly works on a plan to send troops to Ukraine for post-war security

BRUSSELS (AP) — Increasingly alarmed that U.S. security priorities lie elsewhere, a group of European countries has been quietly working on a plan to send troops into Ukraine to help enforce any future peace settlement with Russia.

Britain and France are at the forefront of the effort, though details remain scarce. The countries involved in the discussions are reluctant to tip their hand and give Russian President Vladimir Putin an edge should he agree to negotiate an end to the war he launched three years ago.

What is clear is that Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelenskyy needs a guarantee that his country's security will be assured until peace takes hold. The best protection would be the NATO membership that Ukraine has long been promised, but the U.S. has taken that option off the table.

“I won’t get into the particular capabilities, but I do accept that if there is peace then there needs to be some sort of security guarantee for Ukraine and the U.K. will play its part in that,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in cautious remarks on Thursday.

The Europeans began exploring what kind of force might be needed about a year ago, but the sense of urgency has grown amid concern that U.S. President Donald Trump might go over their heads, and possibly even Ukraine’s, to clinch a deal with Putin.

These dummies don't seem to realize that no military contingent will be deployed to Ukraine that is capable of enforcing anything other than their own tea time.

10s of thousands of combat troops to protect Ukraine from Russia is nothing more than Zelensky's fantasy.

And it will not happen.

Post war security?

That's not what the Z-man wants. He wants Europe to send fighting troops now.

'Army of Europe' needed to challenge Russia says Zelensky

Ukraine's President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for the creation of an "army of Europe" to guard against Russia as he suggested the US may no longer come to the continent's aid.

Speaking at the Munich Security Conference, he also said that Ukraine would "never accept deals made behind our backs without our involvement" after US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin agreed to start peace talks.

In a speech on Friday, in which he attacked European democracies, US Vice President JD Vance warned that Europe needed to "step up in a big way" on defence.

Zelensky said: "I really believe the time has come - the armed forces of Europe must be created."

German troops going back to Ukraine? I’m sure that will go over well.

Europe? Quietly working?

And yet AP writer Lorne Cook returns like a dog to its own vomit, and asks on behalf of those Europeans "quietly working."

Many questions remain unanswered but one stands out: what role, if any, might the United States play?
Hey, Europe. Stop waiting. German, French and Polish troops and material can enter into Ukraine without the US. But it seems, according to AP, they are "waiting." Quietly.

450 million Europeans, waiting for 345 million Americans....

Oh, but if there’s not peace, no need for them to lift a finger?

The countries involved leaked this to you for coverage, AP.

I found the troops that Britain is training for Ukraine security:

https://jobs.army.mod.uk/regular-army/inclusion-values/lgbt/

and France has a plan for Ukraine:

Lol.

These clowns want to make the world safe for perverts—on our dime.

No way.

“Increasingly alarmed that U.S. security priorities lie elsewhere”

Failing to ‘read the room’ is why europe historically has issues. Dumbasses, or with intent.

Some things never change and, in this case, - in contrast to the US - have worsened.

How about they just put them all in Poland. They're already part of NATO.

Side Note: Poland has recently received their first delivery of F-35 Lightening II Joint Stealth Strike Fighter jets.

Russia will expect Ukraine to be neutral, not to host foreign forces, not to have missiles with more than 100 kilometers range nor nuclear weapons nor any system or refinement facility to make nuclear weapons.

Bluster. Everyone knows how pathetically weak the EU is.

What is so hard to deal with the facts? Ukraine is toast, US’s Project Ukraine, which began in 2014 is effectively dead- time to bury it.

I find very, very amusing the amount of Hopium the EU war cheerleaders and St Z have- Hopium is a very powerful drug, stronger than the little green man’s cocaine.

NATO troops in Ukraine is a non-starter for Russia, whether it's called "post war security" or something else. This is NATO by any other name and Ukraine flirting with NATO is one of the main causes of this conflict.

If anything, this plan is a provocation and designed to carry on the war. All that's needed is some sort of false flag operation inside Ukraine and NATO forces, led by Britain and France, attack Russia.

Precisely like Austria and Czech in 1939.

If you want to call their bluff on a peace deal, offer 50,000 Chinese troops as peace keepers.

Ukraine and Europe do not want a cessation of the war and a peace deal.

They want to prevail over Russia.

The Russians left Austria in 1955, because the Austrians agreed they would never join NATO, that’s why Austria wasn’t divided, like Germany.
