Federal workers at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration are on high alert as they monitor signs of a potential Trump administration overhaul of one of the government's main scientific agencies.
Many employees are bracing for potential staff cuts, as well as slashes to the funding that supports science within the agency and by many research partners across the country.
In particular, NOAA staffers are concerned about how President Trump's executive orders, including one targeting climate change programs, could affect the agency's research and operations. Agency officials have received a list, which NPR has viewed, of terms that could run afoul of the orders in the grants and programs they manage; the list includes terms like "climate change," "pollution" and "natural resources," as well as many terms associated with diversity, equity and inclusion. NPR obtained the list from an official at NOAA who agreed to talk on the condition of anonymity for fear of retribution.
NOAA did not respond to NPR's request for comment.
What NOAA does — and how that might change under the Trump administration NOAA includes offices that study the ocean and atmosphere, forecast the weather at the National Weather Service and manage the country's oceanic fisheries.

"If you are a recreational boater, you use NOAA charts. If you like fish, you're eating fish that NOAA manages. If you are concerned about severe weather events, that information — whether it be flooding, tornadoes or tsunamis or hurricanes — that information is tracked by, analyzed by and put into forecasts by NOAA," says Andy...

Climate change is awesome.

Good one!
, including one targeting climate change programs
Any employee who wrote the phrase “climate change” in any correspondence should be immediately fired...
(unless they put it in quotation marks—lol).
Cool. I’m hot for this idea. The NOAA are warm weather friends who always rain on our parade. If there is a chill in the air it’s because the agency blows.
I usually go to Weatherbell.com to view the free Saturday Summary (on Sunday) for the week’s forecast. Joe Bastardi is an anti-climate change conservative with a great sense of humor.
Wish he was at NOAA but hopefully the real change will be in the forecast. Based on history. Recent history since things were different on earth in the beginning. Too hot and stuffy for me!
NOAA needs to go back to changing the weather “every 15 minutes.”
Most major media outlets have a directive to mention climate change in any article having to do with natural disasters. I swear it’s true, and the mandate comes from the top. Publishers can get as much USAID money as they need as long as they play ball.
This should be another agency to be closed for good...reopen only the emergency aspect of it after 90% or more of a budget cut, and of course a different name.
That is correct—and now we have the proof we did not have before.
Some of call it Mockingbird 2.0.

Defund NPR so we don’t have to put up with this damned whining.

Thank goodness none of that has anything to do with climate scams or DEI b.s.

One has nothing to do with the other. Ditch this -- climate change, diversity, equity and inclusion
Keep this -- forecasts by NOAA
Climate change used to be called summer, winter, spring and fall.
We’ve been henpecked with mockingbird ops for a long time!
Trump is going after the Climate Fairy.
We have wasted possibly $ trillions due to regulations and spending on this imaginary problem, enriching grifters like Al Gore and contributing mythology to a Leftist state religion.
Remove the word Climate because it’s just weather and weather is already there ,LOL
Why is the NOAA managing fish, and why is NPR still in operation?
