Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry wants to hold a New York abortionist accountable for illegally mailing abortion pills to his state that are killing babies and hurting women.
As LifeNews reported, a New York abortionist has been indicted for illegally selling abortion pills to people in the pro-life state of Louisiana, where babies are legally protected from abortions.
The indictment came after officials learned that a minor girl was gvien the abortion pills that Margaret Carpenter and her company Nightingale Medical sold to the teen’s mom.
The mother of the minor, who according to reports coerced the minor to take the abortion pills, has also been indicted. The District Attorney of West Baton Rouge Parish, Tony Clayton, told The Advocate that the girl did not want the abortion and had a reveal party planned for her baby.
When the teenager took the abortion drug she experienced a medical emergency and had to be taken to the hospital. The baby ultimately died.
In a new video, Landry talked about the importance of the case and the pursuit of justice.
“A minor in Louisiana got pregnant. She was excited to have a baby and was planning a gender reveal party,” he posted on X. “Her mom conspired with a NY doctor to get a chemical abortion pill in the mail and coerced her to take it. She ended up in the hospital.”
“There is only one right answer in this situation: the doctor must face extradition to Louisiana where justice will be served. We owe this to the minor and the innocent life lost,” he added.
”It is illegal to send abortion pills into this State and it’s illegal to coerce another into having an abortion. I have said it before and I will say it again: We will hold individuals accountable for breaking the law,” said Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill.
The Communications Director for Louisiana Right to Life Sarah Zagorski, told LifeNews: “Louisiana Right to Life is deeply grieved by the harm Dr. Carpenter’s actions caused in this young girl’s life and the death of her unborn baby. It appears evident that the courageous minor had every intent of raising her baby as she had a reveal party planned. Now, instead of celebrating birthdays with her child, she’s left with the grief from the death of her baby and the continued reminder of the abuse she experienced throughout the inevitably upcoming court process.”
The New York based physician, Dr. Carpenter either did not know, or did not care, that the pills she was prescribing would be utilized to harm a minor and then end the life of her unborn baby against her will. As common in the online abortion industry, it is reported that Dr. Carpenter required no medical examination or even an interview with the young pregnant woman before prescribing the drugs. The physician should be held accountable for her reckless disregard of her purported patient’s safety. Furthermore, Dr. Carpenter is not licensed to practice medicine in the state of Louisiana.
Louisiana Right to Life applauds DA Clayton for taking initiative to protect Louisiana women and babies from the devastating effects of coerced abortion and the abortion industry.
Erik Baptist, an attorney who is the Director of the Center for Life with Alliance Defending Freedom, told LifeNews.com he supports the indictment against Carpenter.
“Louisiana has the right and the duty to protect its citizens from high-risk abortion drugs. Every abortion kills the baby and harms the mother, and the FDA’s own label says that roughly one in 25 women and girls taking abortion drugs will end up in the emergency room. If the FDA continues to recklessly disregard the serious risks that abortion drugs pose to pregnant women and girls, states are left with no choice but to step in and ensure that no one else is harmed by these drugs,” he said.
Carpenter also faces a lawsuit from the state of Texas for selling abortion pills there in violation of state law.
Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton is moving forward with a lawsuit against New York abortionist Margaret Carpenter. This case is the first direct challenge to the same dangerous shield laws about which Operation Rescue sounded the alarm in its special exposé, “The Virtual Back-Alley,” highlighted in the 2024 Annual Survey report.
Earlier this year, Carpenter disregarded Texas state law and supplied abortion pills via telemedicine to a woman based in Dallas. Shortly after, the woman found herself in the emergency room with severe bleeding – a high-risk complication in chemical abortions, especially when done at home with no medical oversight.

“Operation Rescue detailed the dangerous expansion of telemedicine abortions – what we call the virtual back-alley – in our 2024 Annual Survey,” said Troy Newman, President of Operation Rescue. “Virtual suppliers have nearly tripled since last year, and 22 states have created shield laws or executive orders to protect abortionists trying to cash in on this lucrative, under regulated new trend.
“These shield laws remove any and all accountability for abortionists like Carpenter who can profit from a woman a thousand miles away and face zero consequences when that woman nearly bleeds to death in an emergency room.”
According to the lawsuit, “Carpenter is the Co-Medical Director and Founder of the Abortion Coalition for Telemedicine (ACT), a nationwide advocacy organization proactively working to advance telemedicine abortion.”
The lawsuit also states that Carpenter started working with Aid Access in 2020, a virtual abortion pill supplier that brazenly offers pills in all 50 states. Aid Access also supplies them as late as 13 weeks into pregnancy, well past the FDA approved cut-off of 10 weeks. Later in 2020, Carpenter also helped found a second virtual supplier, Hey Jane.
“Who knows how many women Carpenter has landed in the emergency room?” asked Newman. “How could anyone know? Like all these virtual suppliers, all Carpenter has to do is take the money and write the prescription. No ultrasound. No exam. And if the woman dies, the New York AG has vowed to protect her. What other class of ‘doctor’ is that ‘privileged’ and protected in America? Only abortionists.”
How does the father of the baby feel? Was he involved in this decision? If not, can he sue for damages?
Hochul is fighting tooth and nail to protect this and other abortionists by not putting the “doctor’s” name on the prescription label.
The doctor participated in a coerced abortion involving a minor whose mother forced her to take the lethal pills.
If you mailed a weapon to someone, anywhere, including another state, knowing they were going to kill someone with it, there wouldn't even be a moment's hesitation before you were arrested and charged. The abortifacient is illegal in Louisiana and Margaret Carpenter intentionally and admittedly sent it to a resident in that state.
New York politicians' claim that other states' laws don't apply to a New York residents, means that residents of other states can mail firearms, firearm magazines, alcohol, tobacco, and gas stoves to anyone in New York (including minors), and New York has no legal recourse to stop them.
