USGAO: 2018-2022 Data Show Federal Government Loses an Estimated $233 Billion to $521 Billion Annually to Fraud

Full GAO Report

GAO's summary:

No area of the federal government is immune to fraud. We estimated that the federal government could lose between $233 billion and $521 billion annually to fraud.

Given the scope of this problem, a government-wide approach is required to address it. The Office of Management and Budget, working with agencies and the oversight community, should develop guidance to improve fraud-related data—providing a more uniform approach to what data is collected and how.

Also, Treasury should identify methods to expand government-wide estimates of fraud—prioritizing higher-risk program areas.

GAO is the Congressional Audit Branch. This was released when Dems controlled the Senate. So, the extent of this fraud puts paid to all the claims of Schumer and his screaming, singing, chanting lefties about DOGE over-reach, etc.

THe now-fired IGs all had this and found or did nothing to mitigate the fraud. Even on notice that this was happening under their noses, they still did nothing.

So, we have to call the dogs:

Loses 500 billion to fraud?

Not only would that be criminal but the government is claiming innocence her. The GAO is claiming victim hood for the government

I know my leftist family members want to pretend the govt is getting defrauded but logical people realize this is about the government def
Braiding its resources.

One half a drop in that bucket is 20% of my income the govt takes from me to squander or misappropriate

And doubtless that spread is the exact amount of net gain the members of Congress realize each year.

Why did Joe Biden have 6 multi million dollar personal homes in good real estate areas?

How did the GAO and the IRS let that past them?

That's direct theft on the federal level.

This does not count the similar fraud that happens to the Federal Funds when they hit the state and local level.

The last audit of LA County finances suggested that over 50% of Los Angeles County social services and other transfer payment spending was fraudulent.

News reports of the audit findings were punctuated with Cal State commercials advertising how virtually all Californians could qualify for California social service transfer payments of one form or another and gave a hot line number so interested parties could get help signing up for public money.

People need to go to prison for a very long time. The ones at the top of the food chain and the middle people and anyone else that saw this happening and okayed it.

This will not be solved by people receiving government salaries.

It will have to be identified and wiped out by an outside entity like DOGE.
