On Wednesday, 8 inspector generals sued to get their jobs back and argued Trump violated a questionable law passed by Congress in 2022.
The law requires a US president notify Congress 30 days before firing an inspector general and to explain in detail the reason for the termination.
The lawsuit was assigned to Judge Randolph Moss, an Obama appointee.

This is unconstitutional for these black robed fags to do this. The bastards don’t work for the stooges. They work for the President and the bass turds weren’t doing their jobs.
Only 8? I’m surprised. I’ll bet Trump is too.
Because it is a law from Congress, he can just give the 30 day notice. Keep the IGs out of the office for those 30 days.
Give the bastard 30 days notice and write out a little pink slip. Then tell Bonzo’s butt boy to “kiss it” and fire his ass.

We are winning across the board.
I’m not gonna start getting stressed over wins that may take a little longer.
I don’t care if Trump IGNORES the judges, but he said he won’t and he knows what’s best.
And if he’s lying, I’m good with that too :)
The SCOTUS will rule correctly.
But Trump is right, in the meantime crooks get some extra months to cover their tracks AND steal from us.
THAT would be a shame
Congress cannot make a law the usurps the Constitutional Power of the Executive, which this law does.
What is the remedy? Congress disagrees with the Executive assessment and tells the president they have to keep employing individuals he is against in his own department? Violates the Constitution on its face.
Congress has the power to take money away or impeach, not power to rewrite Executive Authority addressed within the constitution.
Good Appeal and take this to the SC. That the Executive Branch has to ask Congress permission to fire Executive branch employees needs to be challenged in the Courts
BTTT
Fine.. they’re fired.. Now effectively 30 days from now..
So... For the next 30 days, they will need to report to this judge’s court and sit there from open to close.
And if they miss a single day. then they are done and lose their pension too..
and if the do that, after that 30 days, they are done
Yup—cut off their security and computer access and then order them to report to Antarctica station within twenty four hours.
If they are insubordinate and refuse to show up at their new duty station fire them again!
The notion that Congress needs thirty days notice to fire a grossly insubordinate employee is absurd at best.
What if the employee handed secrets to China and got caught red handed. The President is supposed to wait thirty days to fire them?
Lol.
Govt pays them for 30 days and that’s that.
A 30 day payoff eliminates any financial harm - case closed.
They don’t get their jobs back.
Starting to see a pattern here.
The issue in this case is why does the Executive Branch need approval from Congress to terminate Executive Branch Employees. This restricts the Chief Executive and violates separations of power. I am beginning to think all this is well thought out and could have been done knowing these actions will end up in court. These cases could prove costly for Congress in money and authority.
You and me both.
I suspect the 30 day law will not hold up to constitutional scrutiny, so he can just ignore it. We’ll see what happens at the SCOTUS.
Trump’s MO is to lose in lower, biased courts, and win in higher courts that care about the integrity of their court.
Every damn thing Trump has done is gonna end up in court. Wait and see.
Lawfare is the only lever they had and just like before, whether they win is secondary as long they slow Trump down and screw up his plans.
It has been suggested that Trump and his legal team are setting a trap by provoking overreach from liberal lawyers and judges. This strategy would be aimed at producing legally dubious rulings that the Supreme Court would overturn, thereby reinforcing executive authority and discrediting opponents.
Thereโs precedent for this type of legal strategyโTrump has previously used litigation to push issues up the judicial chain, often benefiting from conservative-leaning higher courts. If lower courts issue weakly reasoned or overly partisan decisions against him, it gives him stronger grounds to appeal and potentially secure broad rulings in his favor at the Supreme Court.
In this specific case, the firing of inspectors general is squarely within presidential authority. If a judge were to rule otherwise in a legally tenuous way, it could backfire by giving the Supreme Court an opportunity to reaffirm and strengthen executive powers, potentially setting a lasting precedent.
To elaborate on the 30-day notification, it appears that the requirement to notify Congress does not override presidential authority to fire an inspector generalโitโs more of a formality that, at most, could be contested procedurally but wouldnโt invalidate the firings themselves.
Didn’t obama fire an IG early on because his wife didn’t like him?? Remind the judge of that incidence...
