The world has entered the third nuclear age, and nuclear weapons are increasingly seen as valuable—and even usable—weapons by a growing number of states. Russia’s threats to use nuclear weapons, China’s rapid nuclear buildup, the United States’s unprecedentedly expensive nuclear modernization, and ongoing nuclear work in North Korea, India, Pakistan, and Iran all make clear the 21st century will be defined by nuclear risks.
The re-election of President Trump is likely to accelerate many of these trends as US allies increasingly question whether the United States will defend their security in a crisis, all while it doubles down on its nuclear investment. This modernization-turned-expansion will likely include at least one new nuclear weapon—a sea-launched nuclear cruise missile—and could also include the resumption of explosive nuclear testing in the United States. Despite these negative developments, Trump suggested at the Davos World Economic Forum last week that he may try to negotiate a new arms control agreement with Russian President Vladimir Putin. Trump’s initial offer also included calls to negotiate with China. But it is very unlikely that China will agree to any such talks until its nuclear build-up reaches some parity with the United States and Russia, something that will take perhaps two decades. Until then, any agreement will likely be bilateral between Washington and Moscow.

Write this down. Trump will negotiate a comprehensive peace with Putin that will encompass Iran/Israel, Ukraine and a new security arrangement for what’s left of NATO and Russia.
Trump will negotiate arms reduction deals with Putin. Considering the Russians are one or two generations ahead of us on IRBMs, a new deal would save us tens if not hundreds of billions trying to catch up. Its too good an opportunity to pass up. He’ll make the deals.
That would be most interesting, especially the voices crying aloud "nay!"
The Atomic Scientists' polemic clock says "89 seconds to midnight." Only a few years ago one Freeper said "I would rather the world end in nuclear war than yield to Little Pukin." It is assured that naysayers to President Trump attempting a sensible "deal" will appear in 3.... 2....1....
“Trump will negotiate arms reduction deals with Putin. Considering the Russians are one or two generations ahead of us on IRBMs, a new deal would save us tens if not hundreds of billions trying to catch up. Its too good an opportunity to pass up. He’ll make the deals.”
You’re right, of course. The thing that some people under Trump need to understand is that Putin won’t agree to anything just on paper, and why should he, considering all the broken promises of the past.
So, promises of “Never Expanding NATO” or “Ending the Sanctions” or “Ukraine will never strive for NATO” or “We promise to not re-start the Ukraine War” or “We accept Russia’s gains in Ukraine” or “End all Sanctions on Russia”...can be broken 5 minutes after it’s signed and almost certainly will be broken by the next Democrat president (and possibly even the next Republican president).
So what’s left: NATO itself. Specifically, restructuring NATO, which means PULLING IT BACK, and the further back they are pulled, the more agreements with Russia can be reached. And that’s because Russia knows that the Neocons getting ‘cute’ again, in this case, would give me time to respond as moving huge numbers of troops and hardware takes a lot of effort and is impossible to hide.
(Zeepers: Feel free to make fools of yourself again, but we’re talking reality here, not some fantasy land of Russians starving to death on the streets, or Putin being dead for the 50th time, or whatever)
Presently, Mother Russia is running around in a dirty nightie having lost all her air defenses. She is being laughed at by the world that knows she could not prosecute a real war.
“Presently, Mother Russia is running around in a dirty nightie having lost all her air defenses.”
There you guys go again.

Part of the 46% of Russian refinery capacity destroyed from the air
LOL, pin prick.
You’ve got to hand it to the Zeeps. They are persistent. How long have they been dragging that dead horse?
I was a neocon stooge for decades before I had my “Come to MAGA Moment” in 2016. I had as much blood on my hands as they do and looked just as stupid and evil. When they finally have that MAGA epiphany, we need to be there to support them.
Or some of the USAID money is still trickling through.
We lived as legal residents for decades in Germany before returning home. During that time, I worked a great deal throughout Europe. A number of times in Belgium, and twice when that little nation's rancorous politicians could not agree to form a government. Who noticed? Few. Life and work went along just fine.
Here's an amusing link attesting to that: Longest time without a government in peacetime Guinness
The "Zeeps" -- as you say -- seem avid that American "power" be "projected" around the world, and I find it interesting that -- given the last four years of Biden-Blinken -- they have AGREED with the Democrats. Additionally ( as we also read European news in a couple of other languages ) they have AGREED with the social Democrats and Labor parties.
Meanwhile, our nation debt still grows wildly, standing at $ 36.5 trillion. And these same pretend conservatives manage to repeat "spend" -- because it's about projecting power, and after all it's only a little more, and we can afford it, and.... The dead horse being dragged is our national debt, added to the individual states' debt, the consumer and tuition debt, the corporations' debt, the county and municipal debt. And pretty soon, we're talking,,,,,
A very financially weakened America. Time to turn off all the money spigots, stem the fiscal hemorrhaging benefiting only the few, and getting out of debt. The "Zeep" response? It's only a little more money to "invest".... And then we "win". Somehow.
President Trump is likely going to do as best he and his team are able to do. Hopefully that will be a great deal. My bride and I cheer him on in this.
The other side: Democrats, RINOs and Zeepers....
“they have AGREED with the Democrats.”
They have marched locked step toward that Brave Woke World with the Globohomos. It doesn’t occur to them that a million dead Slavs died not while stopping a revanchist Soviet Union. These innocent Ukrainians and Russians died in an engineered civil war meant only to destabilize both countries. The end game was to open up both countries to shadow state oligarchical exploitation.
How long did it take King Leopold to slaughter a million? The dementia patient’s handlers did 250,000 a year in Ukraine alone.
“I was a neocon stooge for decades before I had my “Come to MAGA Moment” in 2016. I had as much blood on my hands as they do and looked just as stupid and evil.”
I knew something was up when we starting bombing the shit out of Serbia, and bombing CIVILIAN TARGETS because, if you remember, we wouldn’t let our planes fly below 30,000 feet because of air defenses - so the Serbs make cardboard tanks that blown to smithereens by our fighters. Obviously the military targets were kind of tough to take out with those rules of engagement.
I asked myself a simple question, not knowing much more than the Serbs are Christians and the Albanians (in Kosovo) are Muslims. Ok, they’re in the same country (Serbia), and there’s an uprising by the Albanians (which we now know was likely financed by USAID). The Serbian government than worked to put it down - one might say similar to how the Biden government handled Jan 6th, perhaps?
Anyway, I always thought NATO was a DEFENSIVE alliance, but to this day, I have never seen ANYTHING from the Serbs that showed a threat to NATO countries, nothing - not even a history of terrorism.
...and then Madeline Albright, the Butcher of Belgrade, was made a hero by the (USAID-funded) Western media, and I knew that we were no longer the ‘good guys’, at least in that action...and now many more actions.
I’m ashamed to admit that they had me flopping around in the bottom of the boat as they took that hook, line and sinker out of me too!
You beat me to it!
That neat little arms deal trick has been used up -- thanks in great part to US lies, including Mr. Trump's.
Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice (or more); shame on me!
Russia and China may be many things, but they clearly are not stupid.
LOL, I've lost count of how many treaties Putin broke, even Trump said the Russians were violating the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty.
Name ONE Treaty US broke with Russia?
President Donald J. Trump to Withdraw the United States from the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces (INF) Treaty
Russia has not, unfortunately, honored the agreement, so we’re going to terminate the agreement. We’re going to pull out.

At this point, I don’t believe ANYTHING that USAID-funded media, or Biden, or what the Deep State was telling Trump. The Russians have MORE INTEGRITY than any of them.
So feel free to keep parroting them - it won’t work on me and it won’t work on Tulsi.
“You beat me to it!”
Not sure what lies Trump was saying...far more likely the Deep State was filling him with Hillary’s agenda.
But, overall, note how the Zeepers ALWAYS point to Putin, rather than trying to defend the integrity of the US government, especially when Biden was president. Interesting tactic, but meaningless here. Russia is simply SICK of being fooled...and so are us non-Zeepers.
Yes! There are a couple of words for that: DUPLICITOUS & LIES!
What's even worse is these naive souls buy into the propaganda stories that are bought, planted, and paid for by our government (USAID, etc.). It's called distraction.
Through these stories, we make every leader in countries whose government we don't like a tyrant, a dictator, and a monster as a way to lay the groundwork for an invasion. That invasion may or may not be military on the ground, like the disasters in Vietnam, Iraq, and Afghanistan. Instead, they revert to the more prolific use of creating revolutions and regime changes like Maidan, Arab Spring, etc. These invasions are just the same as kinetic military in order to exert US control -- bought and paid for by our printed money and taxes.
Remember the days when we railed about communist propaganda of Pravda in the USSR or Mao's China? Guess who's doing the same today?
And the sad part is they do all of this while our own country and people "circle the drain," heading into the abyss with $35 trillion and debt and growing and as our cities are being turned into killing and homeless shitholes.
In other words, tell your neighbor (the rest of the world) how to run his house while yours is falling apart! Do it for democracy while millions are sacrificed.
Smart. Real smart!
