Democrat super-lawyer behind Steele dossier slaps employees with unexpected blow: ‘He’s frankly an a–hole’ (Marc Elias)

WASHINGTON — Democrats are buzzing about powerful party-linked attorney Marc Elias springing a mandatory arbitration clause on employees of his law firm — with insiders speculating about whether the firm has something to hide and accusing Elias of hypocritically limiting worker rights.

New York native Elias, 55, made headlines with his work on Hillary Clinton’s procurement of a dossier full of salacious gossip about then-Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump in 2016 — and his eponymous law firm, which he founded in 2021 and has dozens of employees, works primarily on behalf of Democrats and progressive causes.

The Elias Law Group’s new policy, which drew an internal protest letter from 42 subordinates, prevents employees from suing it and includes a class-action waiver and non-disclosure agreement, according to the legal news website Above the Law, which first reported on the move. “All, as a condition of employment…[Elias Law Group] is implementing an arbitration agreement that applies to all employees. The agreement implements an alternative to litigation for resolving employment-related disputes,” chief operating officer Jacqui Newman wrote on Dec. 19.

“Arbitration offers a confidential and cost-effective way to address issues, ensuring that both employees and the Firm resolve matters fairly and efficiently. You will receive the agreement from HR with your 2025 compensation memo by the end of this week. All employees are required to review and sign the agreement by December 30, 2024,” Newman wrote.

The worst bosses are far left bosses. Their innate narcissism breeds contempt for the staff.

Can’t impose arbitration after a person is hired without an arbitration clause.

Firing such people is a losing argument if they sue you if they are harmed or fired.

A lawyer, a political operative and a self-righteous hypocrite walk into a bar.

"What'll it be, Mr. Elias?"

While these type of assholes carry unmerited power this country cannot exist with POS like them! We either nail all the corrupt judicial POS to the wall or they continue the destruction of our nation. It’s up to us.

Making sure he won’t get sued when the funds run out and he lets his people go.

Sounds like he’s got something to hide .

More to the point, it looks like he's got something to hide from his employees.

If I had to guess, I'd say that he used his employees to conduct illegal actions without them knowing what they were doing. Perhaps they filled out USAID grant applications for him? Perhaps they unknowingly set up shell companies to hide the illicit cash flows from the Hillary Clinton State Department to his corporation? Perhaps he used his employees to file dubious election fraud motions in state courts?

Who knows, but why prevent his workers from suing him? Shouldn't he be worried about prosecutors going after him instead?

Sounds like some of the old deed covenants they enforced up north and elsewhere - white people wanting to buy a home in nice neighborhoods were forced to sign a legal paper agreeing they would never sell the property to a Negro. It was quite common; I think liberal Senator Ted Kennedy owned property with that provision.

It's in the article:

“Arbitration offers a confidential and cost-effective way to address issues, ensuring that both employees and the Firm resolve matters fairly and efficiently. Since this story was from December, posting it today would lead one to believe that it had happened in the last few days and was related to USAID in some way. On any other platform it’s called clickbait.

Not really, only required to sign a arbitration agreement ... not a NDA.
