On Feb. 8, 2025, the Boy Scouts of America marked its 115th anniversary in a disheartening way by officially changing its name to "Scouting America." This rebranding reflects more than just a cosmetic adjustment; it signifies a troubling departure from the organization’s foundational principles , succumbing to the relentless pressures of political correctness and gender ideology.
BSA announced the name change last year: “Though our name will be new, our mission remains unchanged: we are committed to teaching young people to be Prepared. For Life. This will be a simple but very important evolution as we seek to ensure that everyone feels welcome in Scouting.”
“For more than a century, Scouting America’s mission has remained the same: to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices over their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scout Oath and Law,” the organization said in a press release. “Whether it’s a camping trip, a pinewood derby car race, or a trail hike, every adventure encourages personal growth by teaching youth how to set goals and achieve them with determination. As we look to the future, Scouting America is dedicated to providing young people with the values, skills, and experiences they need to thrive in a rapidly changing world.”
Historically, the Boy Scouts have been synonymous with traditional American values. Yet in recent years, the organization has witnessed a startling metamorphosis.
From allowing openly gay leaders to permitting girls to join its ranks, the Boy Scouts have diluted its once-clear mission. Each change has chipped away at the stability and reputation of an organization that, for over a century, has positioned itself as a bastion of ethical training and character development.

'Course, I could ask the same question who put their kids through government run schools.
It was already caught and pointed out elsewhere, unless that was your posting.
That’s an interesting chart, one which tracks the Baby Boom. As a Boomer myself, I used to be a Weblos and then a Sea Scout. I don’t suppose the children of today will have many of the opportunities we had growing up, both in the scouts and otherwise.
They are going to end up selling cookies to support their organization.
More likely to sell tampons than cookies.
Or of the Girl Scouts?
I remember when the NCAA was for college men only and college women had their own organization. Then the NCAA went co-ed and that was quickly the end of the women’s organization.
Right you are.
The left broke them. Trump could get involved but it’s a lost cause.
I was thinking of starting my own one-man club(me). Put it out there and announce a John Birch theme. Would the left go out of it’s way to nip it in the bud? If it’s only me what’s there to nip?
They/Them Scouts
I suspect it is also very similar to charts of military enlistment.
It has been explained to me that scouting is still troop-based, and that some troops are still okay.
40 years ago it was having issues where I grew up.
A long painful suicide...
It is kinda sad. I was a Cub scout/Webalo/Boy Scout in the 1970s. Our Scout Master was a retired Army Medic. We did a ton of camping, backcountry survival, first aid, tree/plant identification, woodcraft, mechanics, fishing, boy-stuff, and community service. It was active and informative. I think there’s still a slice of society that would like that, but done the way we grew up in.
They have to take away everything separate from boys/men.
