Elon Musk's Department of Government Efficiency has canceled more than $180million in contracts from the Department of Health and Human Services - including nearly $170,000 allocated for a museum exhibit on Dr Anthony Fauci.
DOGE announced on social media Friday that it canceled 62 contracts at HHS over the course of 48 hours.
'These contacts were entirely for administrative expenses - none touched any healthcare programs,' DOGE wrote.
'This included terminating a $168,000 contract for an Anthony Fauci exhibit at the NIH museum.'
It also included a screenshot of the funds allocated for the Fauci exhibit, showing the money was meant to be spent between July 2024 and July 2025.
Details about the planned exhibit were scarce, but it would likely focus on Fauci's long career in the federal government, which began in the National Institutes of Health in 1968 and ended with him advising Presidents Trump and Biden during the COVID pandemic.
But Fauci's legacy was marred by the unpopular COVID restrictions he helped implement, including social distancing, mask wearing and harsh vaccine mandates that led to members of the armed forces being forcibly discharged.

Did DOGE do the actual canceling?
Or does it merely "expose" and recommend that things be canceled?
Does DOGE have the power to cancel something authorized by Congress?
Please help me understand the process:
1. Congress allocates money (our taxpayer dollars) to be spent on budget issues.
2. Congress sets aside (a specific amount of) money to be spent by Executive branch (cabinet) departments, in this case, HHS.
3. Cabinet departments, such as HHS, decide on how they will spend the money within their own departments.
4. DOGE comes in and says, "No, you can't spend money on that."
5. Money is saved / reallocated / sent back to Congress?
I really want to know how this system works.
It is probably more complicated than this. Please clarify, edit, add to the list.
“$170,000 allocated for a museum exhibit on Dr Anthony Fauci.”
I have no words...!
I am curious, too. I cannot see how DOGE has that power unless that was how it was set up. It is a whole new committee with different tasks. Good question.
Fauci retired a govt job with $10 million and
his wife retired her govt job w/ about $14 million.
How is this remotely possible.....that two people
earning a govt salary retire as multi-millionaires?
It seems that ALL the pols and players in DC are in that same position. Their salaries are commensurate with the jobs, which aren’t crazy high. But they become multi-millionaires in a few years.
I don’t recall the figures, but Liz Cheney was an example of this. And, BTW, she’s known to have frequented the USAID office in the past. Just sayin’..
Ft. Fauci is going to PRISON!
I think St. Fauci has MANY MORE MILLIONS THAT THAT!! Check Offshore accounts!!
Lizard got her START in USAID!! Just like AOC did! Looks like USAID GROOMS LEFTISTS!!
of course.....you are absolutely right.
Yes, I'd like to know how it was set up and how it functions.
I like what DOGE is doing. I just want to know how the process works.
Liz Cheney is an example of leaving a govt job as a millionaire.
And, BTW, she’s known to have frequented the USAID office in the past.
Good catch.
From this morning:
Elon Musk
@elonmusk
The @DOGE team just discovered that FEMA sent $59M LAST WEEK to luxury hotels in New York City to house illegal migrants.
Sending this money violated the law and is in gross insubordination to the President’s executive order.
That money is meant for American disaster relief and instead is being spent on high end hotels for illegals!
A clawback demand will be made today to recoup those funds.

Convenience of the government - it’s in every contract.
Including from the bureaucrats who violated the order and sent it?
Don’t worry, there’s still this Fauci museum exhibit!
Congress giving away money through pork barrel spending and CR is not a budget. It’s an open checkbook.
