A Massachusetts Democrat slammed Iowa’s policies and leadership during a U.S. House Committee hearing with Iowa’s Governor.
House Republicans called Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds to testify on Wednesday about her efforts to reduce the size of state government. It comes as Elon Musk is leading an effort he has called the Department of Government Efficiency, or DOGE, to dismantle government agencies in the name of slashing spending on what the Trump administration views as wasteful spending.
During the hearing, Massachusetts Democrat Ayanna Pressley questioned Governor Reynolds and used the opportunity to slam her policies, particularly around minorities and marginalized populations.
“Iowa is 90% white and only 4.5% black, so that is drastically different from the national population,” Rep. Pressley said. “So when Republicans suggest Iowa should be a national model, they’re advocating for a government that doesn’t reflect our country.”

Ms Presley should soak her head in something
The gift that keeps on giving.
As a recovering New Yorker, I think Iowa is a lovely place.
Hey lady, they’re people and it’s the people of all colors that are damn sick and tired of wasteful federal spending. Get with it!
There’s a gentleman from Iowa on The Right Perspective. Is that you?
Why is this any business of the US Congress?
Democrats continue to live in the fantasy world where whites are going extinct.
But the REAL facts are, black are 12%-13% of the US population, which is almost exactly the same percent they have been for the last 100 years. And in FACT, in the last census, their percentage actually went... DOWN!
But don’t let liberals know facts.
Hey Ayanna, they have a lot of pigs in Iowa. You’d fit right in.
Meanwhile, according to the Census Bureau, Massachusetts is 79% white and 9.6% black, so by her own illogic, Pressley needs to STFU as well.
Massachussetts politicians will be visiting Iowa to see how it is done when Trump stops the flow of Federal funding that has subsidized these Democrat run states. They will soon be going crazy in New York.
democrats don’t reflect our country...
In 1870 the black percentage of the population was... 12.7%
Today.. 13%
All of these stories about blacks taking over are total BS
Why doesn’t she go after the deep-blue state of Vermont, which is 92% white and - gasp - only 1.3% black.
Without the race-card, white-guilt and gobs of printed, fiat federal reserve money and massive Fed.gov debt - people like Pressley disappear.
She must do this to stay relevant.
It brings into further relief the divide between the farm and the city.
Iowa is the heartland of America. If somehow the persons of African descent are not represented in the exact same ratio as the rest of the United States, that does not reflect on the treatment accorded them by their neighbors or in the workplace.
People used to speak of “Minnesota nice”, but they have largely lost that reputation, with their attempts to bring the culture in line with the “desired” conformity. It is now “Iowa nice”.
Minneapolis was burning in recent years. Des Moines was not.
This is the second democrat in the last 2 days who has made overt active racists comments and is not being called out or “cancelled” for it!
White people, you are nothing to them.
I remember a few years back, there was a riot in downtown Des Moines around the capitol building, police cars were trashed and burned. By blacks, 4.5% of the population, but many in a nearby neighborhood. Over-representation of blacks rioting. Still a nice place, my daughter and her family live in Des Moines. Except for the blacks living off MLK drive, Des Moines is a pleasant place.
Minnesota is like Iowa + the city of Minneapolis when it comes to politics.
Wisconsin is like Iowa + the city of Madison when it comes to politics.
Colorado is like Iowa + the city of Denver when it comes to politics.
Are these folks trying to create 40 Red States?
