Democrats release retaliatory measures in attempt to rein in Trump’s agenda

WASHINGTON — Democrats are looking to use any point of leverage they have to push Republicans into a corner and put a stop to President Donald Trump’s agenda — even if it means withholding support on legislation to keep the government funded.

Although Republicans hold majorities in both the House and Senate, Democrats are eyeing ways to capitalize on their GOP counterparts’ slim margins to rein in their power as Trump and his allies issue in a number of sweeping changes to the federal government. House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, the top Democrat in the lower chamber, released a 10-point plan on Monday to counter those efforts — even going so far as to issue an ultimatum on government funding if certain demands aren’t met.

Jeffries specifically pointed to a recent effort by the Trump administration to freeze federal aid, warning that such an order must be “choked off” in the upcoming government funding deal, “if not sooner.” That could tank any measure to avoid a scheduled shutdown on March 14, as recent spending deals have required substantial Democratic support to pass.

“That bill has to be bipartisan,” Utah Rep. Blake Moore, who serves as the vice chair of the House GOP Conference, told the Deseret News. “So there’s a lot of things that we’re going to work with Democrats on to be able to advance that.”

Democrats are not ignorant of their lack of power in Congress. But several of them have pointed to that government funding deadline as key to their counter-strategy.

“I don’t know that it’s a point of leverage. It’s a fact,” Sen. Patty Murray, top Democrat on the Senate Appropriations Committee, said on Monday. “On March 14, the government shuts down.

If Trump's stopping government spending while still taking in taxes, will they reach the debt limit?

If the debt limit not reached, no government shutdown.

Exactly—that is the urgency of slashing expenditures—stay ahead of debt ceiling deadlines.

This is totally doable.

Did the republicans lose their majorities in both houses, or are the pubbies still unable to find their balls?

This will be a hoot, if the ‘Rats end up trying to shutdown government!

I won’t tell them that I don’t see how Trump loses, in this case…

Democrats don’t support anything Republicans do anyways.

How is this a threat?

I’m convinced one of the reasons the Dems are freaking out is they know the Fed Gov has been financing massive election fraud for years. Either directly, indirectly through NGOs or laundering money back into campaigns. Trump is threatening their very existence.

The dems are so insistent that shutting down parts of the government is so harmful that they want to shut down the whole government. That’s a rather inviting briar patch to be thrown into.

Republicans, you BETTER hold the line and support Trump. If you don’t and the communists come back, those who are known to be conservative WILL die and you will die with us. Bookmark this post. Don’t be stupid. Keep going and follow through, or...

This is EXACTLY the truth. They have been taking OUR money and manipulating elections to enact policies that are destroying US!!! And, many ignorant people have been letting it happen. This is our either/or moment in history. It truly is.

The Democrats just openly declared that they are going to shut down the government if their demands aren’t met. From this moment going forward, the Democrats own the shutdown. If the media says anything to the contrary, they are liable for lying to the public.

Those fines could be then used to do things like help veterans, and put the legacy media out of business. I’m all for it.

"Democrats are eyeing ways to capitalize on their GOP counterparts’ slim margins..."

Apparently no one has told the dimocrats that thanks to DOGE they do not have enough stolen taxpayer money to wage crooked elections and smear campaigns to unseat true MAGA Republicans. The RINOs will be replaced, but not by the insider trading, public fund stealing, lying, traitorous dimocrats.

The expiring CR is also about the budget for the rest of the FY, not just the debt ceiling, so, no, your solution can’t work.

Will the Dems still vote against the Repub plan if it includes California fire aid? That will be interesting to watch.

From the article: That could put Republicans in a real time crunch. Democrats are scheduled to leave town for their annual retreat March 12-15, coinciding with the government shutdown deadline.

With a congressional shutdown this would allow Trump to do a massive recess appointment for all his selectees. Looks more like an opportunity than a threat.

I went back to FNC for the first time in nine years during the election. Been watching it since until this morning when FNC decided to pick the fart left jacksasses up and help them get back to screwing the American people all over again. Just left FNC for another 9 years. They’ve gone too far left and are dumping Americans and Trump. Screw them.

Ideally, The House should return to regular order and produce an actual budget, several appropriations bills passed through the committee process and voted on one at a time. The way it was always done and is supposed to be, until the last 20 years or so when the uniparty sabotaged the process.

So the CA fire aid is the hook to pull CA Dems to support the GOP plan? Smart.
