CHICAGO — A state police investigation of an expressway shooting culminated in a high-speed chase and the seizure of two machine guns, officials say. But, so far, the man they’re accusing of possessing those guns and driving the highway shooter’s car is not charged with firing any shots.
The shooting occurred around 11:10 p.m. on Friday, January 31, on the inbound Dan Ryan Expressway near 47th Street, according to an Illinois State Police statement. No injuries were reported, but investigators identified the suspect’s vehicle and entered its information into a law enforcement database.
The next day, a license plate reader spotted the vehicle on I-94 near 91st Street, ISP said. Troopers tried to pull the car over, but the driver sped away, ran several red lights, and evaded officers on the expressway and surface streets.
A Chicago police helicopter unit watched when the driver parked in the 2100 block of East 98th Place. Prosecutors said the driver, 32-year-old Reginald Brown, went into his house on the block.
Investigators surrounded his house, secured a search warrant, and placed Brown into custody, prosecutors said in a detention petition. Inside his home, police allegedly recovered two handguns equipped with automatic-fire switches that allow them to generate machine gun fire. One was loaded, the other was not, officials said.

A semi auto pistol with a trigger switch is not a “machine gun.”

I’ve never been in love with full auto. After the third shot or so accuracy goes out the window, unless it’s an actual machine gun where the barrel pretty much stays nailed down.
Even shooting my M16’s full magazine at a slow single shot rate gets the barrel gets quite hot.
I can imagine how worthless a full auto Glock would be.
It is a good thing the Germans invented and started using full-auto assault rifles; if they had stuck with bolt actions they would have won the war. Just kidding.

Last time I fired a full auto weapon was in 1969, SE Asia. It’s fun! No wonder there is a smile on Chuckie Schumer’s face when he unloads a Tec-9.(Actually a semi-auto)

If I could have a full auto 22 cal machine pistol with hardened replaceable barrels, that would be gangbusters. The ammo is cheap.LOL
Featherlite Industries RAV-22 was getting there but alas, they screwed the pooch.
A person that was actually fired upon with full-auto weapons told me they were concerned because they were not sure how good the enemy was - or how lucky the enemy might get.
