Rehovot, Israel – An Israeli man turned over a cache of weapons, accumulated by his grandfather and father over decades, to Israeli authorities. The cache was discovered while the man was refurbishing his parent’s home.
Israel was born in military conquest three millennia ago, rebuilt after Babylonian destruction 2.5 millennia ago, destroyed by the Romans as a nation two millennia ago, and reborn as the homeland of the Jews 100 – 78 years ago. Jews have always “occupied” the land that we call Israel.
War, conquest, and military strife have been part of the nation of Israel throughout its history. Before the Israeli War of Independence in 1948, the Israelis had significant underground resistance forces against British rule, with shifting internal alliances, sometimes cooperating with the British, sometimes actively resisting and sabotaging the British rulers of the land. The ability to have and hide firearms was critical. Toward the end of WWII, the British issued a declaration of the death penalty if a person was found with a firearm.
The article/video from Israeli National News says the weapons were apparently collected by the man’s father and grandfather over a period of years.
This cache, with many WWII-era weapons, was likely started during that era. The owners risked everything to ensure they had weapons to defend against a world full of enemies. Consider the risks taken when the regime might kill you for having firearms. Consider keeping weapons whose presence might put you in prison for decades. These were serious survivors of intense strife.
It is an interesting collection. Watching the video, this correspondent determined these approximate numbers and video-level identifications:

The guy had plausible deniability. Should have kept his mouth shut. Seriously, after Ictober 7th any Israeli who gives up his ability to defend themselves is a fool.
“The owners risked everything to ensure they had weapons to defend against a world full of enemies”
And the fool of a grandson reported his father and grandfather. Good little Pavlik Morozov. I almost hope the day comes that he needs them and didn’t have them. How many who died on October 7 would have given anything for a way to defend their family?
He’s probably some Leftist peace-nik who has good intentions. If the Muslims come to kill him, he will wish he would never have done this.
Guaranteed to be screwed over no matter what he did.
Amen.

Sundown at coffin rock.
An old one, but worth the read. Applies to this story.

GREAT Site.
Moron. Keep your weapons you will need them.
“If the Muslims come to kill him, he will wish he would never have done this.”
Maybe not. The left has gone that crazy. Chances are good he’d blame colonialism or apartheid and excuse them.
If I had found those weapons hidden in my house, I would have been at the range the next day having a party! After generations of indoctrination, Israelis see private weapon possession as a crime. Even just having tactical shotguns could have made a difference on 7 October 23.
My Brother bought cars at auctions for many years. Found probably a hundred guns in the various vehicles. We always had them checked to see if they were stolen. A few were and we immediately turned those over to the Sheriff. In many cases he made more money on the guns than he did on the cars.
As a collector of WW2 military sidearms, I recognize and have several of those. There were 3 Mauser C-96 Broomhandles, at least 2-3 Lugers, a few Walther P-38s, multiple Webley’s an Enfield, a couple 1911s, A Beretta model 1934 and it looked like a Walther PP. That collection of pistols alone would be worth serious money on the US Collector market.
And that’s to say nothing of the rifles and submachine guns.
I traced one gun after Dad died. It was a popular gangster gun purchased in Chicago in 1924. Back then, all they kept was the date manufactured, the date sold to the dealer, and the date the dealer sold the gun. I sold the three pistols my Dad took. They were worth more than my dad knew. He did not care for the guns. They were all corroded, having been left in a shed for decades.
after October 7th any Israeli who gives up his ability to defend themselves is a fool.

Or a suicidal liberal, which seems to be a sizable portion of the Israeli population.
Sad, but very cool story!
Over the years I’ve also heard stories of cops with drop guns in their trunks. Never got close enough to one to have them offer me a drop gun. I did go to high school(in the 60’s) with the cop’s son who said that the cops always had the best drugs! 😊
