Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum claimed Monday that she reached a deal with President Trump to halt the imposition of 25% tariffs for one month in exchange for concessions on the border.
Sheinbaum said Mexico agreed to reinforce the US-Mexico border with 10,000 personnel from Mexico’s national guard to help crack down on fentanyl dissemination into the US. Sheinbaum and Trump held a call Monday morning.
The US will then work with Mexico to prevent the trafficking of weapons into America’s southern neighbor.
“We had a good conversation with President Trump with great respect for our relationship and sovereignty; we reached a series of agreements,” Sheinbaum said in a statement, per a translation.
“Our teams will begin working today on two fronts: security and trade,” she added. “They are pausing tariffs for one month from now.”
Trump had ordered a 25% across-the-board tariff on Mexico after accusing the southern neighbor of failing to meet his demands of addressing the fentanyl and illegal immigration crises.

So it’s all over.
Mexico caves
after Panama caves
is there some sort of trend going on here?
Boy, does this make Canada, and Schumer (with his Corona) look stupid.
Go against DJT and Look Stupid. There’s a real message.
Sheinbaum said Mexico agreed to reinforce the US-Mexico border with 10,000 personnel from Mexico’s national guard to help crack down on fentanyl dissemination into the US. Sheinbaum and Trump held a call Monday morning.
“I just spoke with President Claudia Sheinbaum of Mexico. It was a very friendly conversation wherein she agreed to immediately supply 10,000 Mexican Soldiers on the Border separating Mexico and the United States. These soldiers will be specifically designated to stop the flow of fentanyl, and illegal migrants into our Country. We further agreed to immediately pause the anticipated tariffs for a one month period during which we will have negotiations headed by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Secretary of Treasury Scott Bessent, and Secretary of Commerce Howard Lutnick, and high-level Representatives of Mexico. I look forward to participating in those negotiations, with President Sheinbaum, as we attempt to achieve a “deal” between our two Countries.”

“Mexico caves”
Empty promises.
El foldo magnifico!
Mexico caved almost as fast as Columbia
The tariffs aren’t a day old yet some SOB’s will star gouging today.
How democrat of them
10k troops for 1 month of relief is how I read it. They think they can wait Trump out as the uniParty works in driving down his approval numbers.
I believe one of the term of NAFTA was that they were not allowed to get parts from China..
So, she’s got 10,000 spare guys to police the border in 30 days. So, where were these guys before? So, they either existed and will be incapable of executing the border mission with any precision in the next 30 days...or, the existed and their leadership chose not to execute the border mission...
Think Peacekeeping or DMZ as similar type missions. You simply can’t just toss in untrained and poorly paid/motivated troopers and expect unicorns and rainbows, especially if they cross paths with the cartel units, who will often own the terrain in which the police/army are looking to maneuver.
Half of those 10,000 troops are probably getting money from the cartels and will provide intel to them, so the drugs and people will still flow.
” So, where were these guys before? “
Guarding cartel shipments across the river, transporting thousands of people through holes in the wall, intimidating rival gangs, using helicopters to attack USBP and taking bribes on a galactic scale to do all of the above.
Stuff.
The trend? Yah, the World is starting to realize that a guy who they tried to jail and kill isn’t backing down because the democrats or legacy media publish some BS about tarrifs.
Too much winning...I need a nap.
However, even if they wanted to stop fentanyl, it's so small a package it's hard to find.
