The State Department is no longer issuing U.S. passports with “X” gender markers and has suspended processing all applications from Americans seeking to update their passports with a new gender marker. This suspension, made in response to President Donald Trump’s executive order signaling his administration’s opposition to gender diversity, affects all transgender and nonbinary Americans, including those currently traveling or overseas.

Trump’s executive order directed federal agencies to require that government-issued identification documents, including passports and visas, reflect sex assigned at birth. Since this order states that it is the policy of the United States to recognize two sexes, male and female, and that these sexes are not changeable, “the department’s issuance of U.S. passports will reflect the individual’s biological sex,” an agency spokesperson said in an emailed statement on Friday evening. Under Trump’s executive order, “sex” explicitly excludes gender identity.

I think it's hilarious.
Passports are a means to identify people. If you are allowed to lie on a passport they are worthless.
Same for birth certificates, and driver’s license.
“I think it’s hilarious”
I second that.
“Including those currently traveling or overseas”? Really? So you can’t come back to the country cause your passport is invalid? The administration is creating unforced errors and train wrecks. What a mess this is going to cause the administration. All for the executive order, but man why create a headache for yourselves. 99% of passport holders are probably already in the states, that’s a good start.
Exactly.
Easy solution.
Put down what the doctor observed at birth.
Of course they’d happily provide them with passports—that were simply honest about their sex.
It doesn't get any plainer than that.
Catch this gem from the article:
"Accurate and consistent gender markers on identity documents dramatically reduces the risk that trans people will face violence, harassment and discrimination..."
Tell me how an "X" on your identification reduces this risk. It's essential a bullseye marking you as a target of derision.
affects all transgender and nonbinary Americans
Well there’s not such ####ing thing as either so it works out great :)
It’s like saying “12 legged elephants and people over 12 feet tall are affected”
It doesn’t matter because it’s NOT REAL.
I feel like Woody in “A Toy Story”
“you....are....A TOY!!!!” :)
Biden allowed people to “change genders” willy-nilly on official documents by just a simple declaration. It was simply insane.
Sex is never "assigned" at birth.
It's observed and the doctor states the obvious.
At a community yard sale a couple years ago a young mother was with her couple month old baby. One of the older women was ooohing and ahhing over it and asked what sex it was.
The young mother replies with (and this is a quote) "A girl, on the outside"
My first thought after trying not to vomit was *That poor baby doesn't stand a chance with a mother like that*.
Good...axsmall return to sanity.
My daughter’s social security card was wrong, marking her as male for 30 years. When she got married it was tricky getting it corrected. The trans agenda is going to get messy in the government quagmire of incompetence. They won’t be able to make corrections.
Good point.
Those already overseas who can’t do anything about it until they get home should still be allowed back in, but then they can deal with correcting it.
Although I agree that it’s probably a small fraction of passport holders.
You'd be surprised how many. The recent social contagion of "transing" has created up to 10% of the population as "non-binary."
no one’s blocking anything: just check one of two boxes and move along ...
Well, they'd have to check the correct box, of course.
I see all the Desnatis bots are still here whining at Trump because their god lost the 2024 primary.
Grow up, you lost. Get over it finally
