Russian army recruitment drops 80% in Moscow — as fighters from Asia and Africa fill the ranks for cash

The payments no longer attracting Russians like they did before.

Foreigners from Africa and Asia, however, are now making up half of all applicants at the Moscow center, Verstka reports.

Sources from the mayor’s office say there is no evidence that the foreigners are being purposefully shipped into the capital as part of a deal between Russia and other nations.

Instead, the foreigners appeared to be lured by other fighters who boasted about the payments and the ability to gain combat experience fighting with Russia.

One man, who said he was from Bangladesh, said he went to the recruitment center to sign up after a friend successfully enlisted and invited him to join for the money.

“I am a student. My family financial condition is not good. I need to support them,” the man told Verstka.

Another foreign fighter, who said he was from Ghana, said he was also invited to Russia by a friend and saw an opportunity to fulfill his dream of going to war.

“I came and I realized that there’s an opportunity to join the army. I see advertising in metro everywhere,” he said of Moscow. “To serve is my dream.”

Recruiters, however, warn of the effectiveness of the foreign fighters given that none of them appear to speak Russian, an issue that has been seen with the more than 10,000 North Korean fighters shipped off to fight in Kursk.

US officials estimate that thousands of North Koreans have died on the battlefield, with the foreign fighters reportedly performing blunders on the frontlines over the language barrier issue.

Along with the foreigners, Russians who are under investigation for crimes are also making up the bulk of enlistments following President Vladimir Putin’s order last month allowing defendants in court to sign military contracts during times of war.

And if the US were able to force oil worldwide down to $40 per bbl, how long could Russia afford their war? Is it generally believed that a price of $60 per bbl is required for Russia to make money on their oil?

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore

That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion,

A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has washed out their foul footsteps' pollution.

No refuge could save the hireling and slave,

From the terror of flight, or the gloom of the grave,

And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave,

O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Regards,

There are plenty of Russian men in the twin elite cities of Moscow and St. Petersburg, who should be fighting in Ukraine for Putin’s war machine.
It seems Putin gets Asian ethnics from the Russian far east to sign on board. Their rural communities are very poor. Not much non-farm work there, so sign up for hapless stooge Roooskie army, to get killed in Ukraine or Kursk.

You watch videos of Moscow and St. Petersburg, it’s as if there isn’t a war going on. People just minding their own business and carrying on as if nothing was happening.

Putin knows if he started drafting people from there, he wouldn’t last a month.

Maybe the Russians might be interested in acquiring our illegals? If the Banana Republics don’t want them, maybe the Russians do?

Just about all Russian oil is from very cold regions with permafrost. This makes the oil drilling, exploration and lifting (pumping) and transportation to markets more expensive. The infrastructure build out is more expensive.

I have a very good idea what Russia would do with our illegals. China too.

Like the Austria-Hungary army during WWI.

Which leads to the saying. “If diversity is our strength, then Austria-Hungary would have won WWI”

With a large number of Russian refineries either destroyed or only partially functional, Russia will soon not be able to supply military needs, followed by civilian needs, never mind filling the export market.

North Koreans cannot understand the Russians and Russian cannot understand North Koreans which has led to more than a few firefights between the two.

Adding Africans makes it even worse.

Ukraine needs to ramp up the drone attacks on Russian oil refineries. When a swarm of Ukrainian drones hits them...... These Rooosky refineries are very vulnerable, with scarcely any built-in firefighting capability. Which I guess was OK enough, until Putin invaded Ukraine.

Almost no one oil industry can survive at $40 per bbl. Perhaps the Canadian oil sands could continue to operate at no profit. Most of the mid-east and especially Saudi Arabia would be unprofitable.

There would be mass shut-ins immediately in the lower 48 USA, followed by bankruptcy of independent operators. US Shale needs $65-$70/bbl to continue to fund fracking of new wells, as decline-rates of fracked wells are so extreme. Even at present WTI price of $73,. there will be no "drill baby drill."

Just like Covid period, prices would then spike 12-18 months later, after production was destroyed and exploration and investment budgets were cut to zero.

cheap oil destroying Russia is false hope and lazy mental exercise for State Dept. and DC swamp neocons.

Thanks, I have never heard it put that way. The other side of the coin, so to speak.
