Rep. Chip Roy (R-Texas) confirmed he was not in attendance at the Florida retreat for House Republicans while taking a shot at those who were present. “It is being reported I am not at the so-called Republican retreat in Florida. I am not,” Roy wrote in a Tuesday statement on X.

Representative Roy is not my representative, but he is a brother in arms. It would seem that the Doral meeting is a group pep rally to get more spending, deficits, and less budget cuts. We will see. I hope he and I are wrong.

I heard on radio that the budget calls for several trillion (7?) in cuts, but at this point (noon CST) only $8 Billion has agreement by all.

Bless you Representative Chip Roy.

Trump has CUT OFF all foreign aid, USAID, and all NGOs funding both domestically and abroad. In just 48 hours. the “Blue Team” has been cutoff at the knees, saving billions. What the hell else does he expect in Trump’s first week?

So do tax cuts have to be “paid for”? That is waht the budget cap does, ties our hands.

I don’t know a lot about Chip Roy but what I see is somebody who has the courage of his convictions, and doesn’t mind rocking the boat every so often. He can be a “troublemaker”, at times, but usually for substantial reasons, unlike Massie who can appear petty and uncompromising.
Chip Roy is somebody I would want on my side.

Not everyone is on Perplexity:

Chip Roy has consistently high conservative ratings from various organizations:

Heritage Action Scorecard: Roy scored 98% for the 117th Congress and has a 97% lifetime score.

Conservative Review’s Liberty Score: While the exact score is not provided, Roy is listed on their scorecard, indicating a high conservative rating.

FiveThirtyEight’s Trump Score: Roy voted in line with Trump’s position 89.5% of the time during his career in Congress.

AFL-CIO Scorecard: Roy received a 0% rating for 2023, which typically indicates a very conservative voting record on labor issues.

These ratings consistently place Chip Roy among the most conservative members of Congress, with his voting record closely aligning with conservative positions on key issues.

A transfer of funds===$50 MILLION was stopped-—going to GAZA to BUY CONDOMS....

$50 MILLION.

Current population of GAZA is a little over 2 million.

IF half are male-—that is $50 each for condoms.

NEVER heard of MUSLIMS even using condoms

Methinks you are missing the point. There is no criticism with what POTUS has stalled or cut. What Roy is confronting is the new budget, and appropriations on a go forward basis. He believes that the cuts should be permanent as will be set forth in the budget, and not the measures taken since January 20. He is focused on the big picture, not the relative insignificant reductions of money already appropriated. They are two different subjects. In a sense, I can relate to Roy in that as one Representative, he has a less than a half of one percent voice on the direction of the caucus. His time is best used talking to his constituents and getting marching orders from them. His position is well represented by several others from the Freedom Caucus.

Well said, my FRiend. I wish the true conservatism of smaller government, less spending, and less government were achieved. There is much that is not necessary from the Deep State of bureaucrats and unelected lawmakers.

Chip Roy is somebody I would want on my side.

There are about 10 true, fiscal conservatives and constitutionalists in the entire Congress - out of 435 congressmen and 100 senators

And God bless them, they punch FAR above their weight. it's like Abraham negotiating with God over the fate of Sodom. 10 righteous men, speaking the Truth, would be enough to save an entire city.

And if "rocking the boat" is how they do it, then so be it.

Thumbs up, my Friend. Sometimes when it is dark and quiet, I ponder whether he had more influence as a staffer of Ted Cruz, or if Cruz had more on him. I think they are two locomotives running on parallel tracks.

If you are not present you cannot voice your concerns nor proposals.

If I sere in his district, I would not be happy with him for boycotting an important conference.

The federal budget is entitlements, defense, and debt service. Everything else is chump change.

There are 1001 places to trim domestic discretionary spending and foreign aid, but trimming chump change accounts doesn’t put a dent in the problem.

Either we constrain the long term growth of entitlement spending or we go bankrupt. The only question is when.

Trump is the leader of the Republican party.

Some in the Republican party hate that.

Even some that call Texas home

“going to GAZA to BUY CONDOMS....”

Condoms may be code for something else...like “kick-backs”.
