US President Donald Trump dug in his heels Monday over a controversial suggestion that large numbers of Gazans take refuge in Egypt and Jordan, shrugging off wall-to-wall opposition to the proposal from Arab leaders.
Egyptian media on Tuesday cited government sources as saying that Trump and Sissi had yet to speak. If they did, Sissi’s office would issue a readout, the Egyptian officials told local media.
The US president on Saturday floated the idea to “clean out” Gaza after more than 15 months of war between Israel and Hamas had reduced the Palestinian territory to what he called a “demolition site.”
Asked about those comments, Trump told reporters on Air Force One Monday evening he would “like to get them living in an area where they can live without disruption and revolution and violence so much.”
“When you look at the Gaza Strip, it’s been hell for so many years,” Trump said. “There have been various civilizations on that strip. It didn’t start here. It started thousands of years before, and there’s always been violence associated with it. You could get people living in areas that are a lot safer and maybe a lot better and maybe a lot more comfortable.”

Wherever the Gazan’s go, or stay, they’ll always be a thorn in someone’s side.
That’s a tough one. We’ve spent decades winning over those countries and that may be asking too much.
History s moving ahead so this might be the right time.
I love President Trump but his suggestion that the King of Jordan take in Palestinians from Gaza is not going anywhere.
King Hussein kicked them out in 1970. I don’t think they will be welcomed back.

Palestinians demanded Gaza and so Israel gave it to them. Then they claimed they were prisoners there and attacked Israel. Now if they have a chance to leave Gaza, they will claim they are being driven out of their “home”. There is no peaceful negotiating with them.
Since when did Israel’s problem become Trump’s problem??

Right, there will never be peace until the radical muslims accept the existence of Israel. Many moderates have, through the Abraham Accords mediated by Team Trump. But the Palis are run by maniacs, and that isn’t going to change in our lifetimes.
Of course not. And neither would Egypt or Jordan. So what is Trump thinking here? Perhaps he’s just throwing out more chaff to keep everyone guessing.
If you moved the Gazans to Greenland, they would still be trying to destroy Isreal.
Tried this before. Jordan ended up killing thousands after too many uprisings. Egypt despises them as so many are crooks from Egypt. Arafat was booted from every country except Tunisia until land for peace brought him back.
Every single president has failed. All of history has failed since the days of Joshua.

They are already Jordanian. That is their passport until the new ersatz one came out. Egypt sure as hell doesn’t want them. Don’t pollute Egypt with them... bad for tourism.

What has always been astonishing is how big money aid is provided the Palestinians from the US and EU.
But how much do they get from the Saudis and Emirates?
Pre 2020 the Saudis and Emirates combined provided roughly the same amount as the US, and less than the EU.
But when Covid hit, Saudi money dropped 77%. Ditto Emirates.
I have found no indication that it was restored.
It is probably what started the war there. The money spigot was shut off.
Looks like we may have finally reached the place where we need to be, a one state solution.
The Palestinians are the Gypsies of the Middle East. NOBODY wants them in their country. Especially the moderate Arab nations.
Jordan got rid of them because they tried to take over their country.
They are also Sunni, so the Iranians do not want them in their country. Even though they have been supplying them with arms to fight the Little Satan.
They have been living in a 25 mile long by 7 mile wide prison for years. There are 2 million people living in that prison camp.
With all that beach front property, Gaza could be a great resort area if just they could get the jihadis out. It would make a great homeland for the oppressed Christian and other religious minorities living in Arab lands.
The Arab nations treat the Palestinians like plutonium. Egypt has an extensive border wall with Gaza and they want nothing to do with the Gazans. I don’t know Trump is going to convince them otherwise.
Arab counties need to pony up land and money and create a “Palestine’ that’s far away from Israel. And the world needs to stop sending ‘relief’ to these able bodied people and let them seaport themselves.
