Selena Gomez has been slammed after she filmed herself breaking down in tears while speaking about the deportation of Mexican people - with some branding her 'shallow' and 'narcissistic.'
The actress, 32, uploaded a very emotional video on her Instagram Story on Monday morning in which she sobbed over President Donald Trump deporting undocumented immigrants hours after he issued a daily quota of arrests for border officials.
In her recording, which has since been deleted, Selena admitted she felt powerless over the situation, telling her 422 million followers: 'I'm so sorry, I wish I could do something, but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try everything.'
The video did not sit well with social media users though, who were quick to slam her for not using her reported net worth of $1.3 billion to take action herself.
Leading the charge was British journalist and broadcaster Piers Morgan, who said: 'Posting yourself weeping over illegal immigrant criminals being deported is a new level of absurd celebrity narcissism.'
Echoing a similar sentiment, another posted: 'What a moron. What purposes does this serve? Is this a PR stunt???? Who cares what Selena Gomez thinks. Keep it to yourself. Disgraceful.'

What does this woman do o for a living?
She pretends to be a singer.
BTTT
Also, she’s not a Mexican. They are not her “people”.
Thank you.
I’ve never heard of this person, but it’s all over X while I’m trying to get my daily Trumpy Mojo news.
She can do much. She can send money to the migrants once they return to their home countries. Then the migrant families won't have to come to the U.S. to live off our welfare.
We get it.
You’re Incredibly cool for being so out of touch.
Wouldn’t it have been shorter to just type it in google?
But then we wouldn’t know how COOL it is to be out of touch and you are the king of it :)
When she acts, is she believable?
I was beginning a Socratic dialogue. You should join in.
Exactly! If she loves illegal aliens so much, let’s see her put her money where her mouth is.
oddly enough, there is a phenomenal trio of 3 sisters from Monterrey, Mexico who are truly the queens of rock and roll right now.
so far, the truest rock n roll of the 21st century.
They truly make Mexico proud. They are shining examples of what young women could and should be. I havent been soooo into a band since i was a young teen discovering the magical connection between Led Zeppelin and marijuana 40 years ago.
This is what Mexico should be exporting to the world!

I only saw the first season. It's a bit odd, because we're supposed to believe that Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez are a team of amateur sleuths.
They unite over a mutual love of true crime podcasts. They start their own podcast called "Only Murders in the Building." Their podcasts only focuses on murders in the New York City co-op they live in. That's their show's hook, which they conceive after someone is killed in their building. But really, can they expect more murders in their expensive NYC co-op?
It also stretches credulity that a young Latina would want to hang out with two white senior citizens. I guess the producers thought, Steven Martin and Martin Short are comedy greats that will attract their older fan base. Then we cast Gomez to bring in young and diverse viewers.
They solve the murder in their building at the end of the first season. Luckily, the season ends with another murder in their building, so their podcast can continue.
And an actress. Martin Short and Steve Martin run rings around her in their show "Only Murders in the Building" on Hulu. It's too bad whoever cast her in the role she plays, couldn't have found someone better.
She’s not the hit in the show. Short and Martin are.
