Trump Justice Department fires officials who investigated Trump and launches ‘special project’ into January 6 cases

More than a dozen officials who worked on the criminal investigations into Donald Trump have been fired, according to sources familiar with the matter.

A letter from acting Attorney General James McHenry to the officials said they cannot be “trusted” to “faithfully” implement Trump’s agenda.

“You played a significant role in prosecuting President Trump. The proper functioning of government critically depends on the trust superior officials place in their subordinates,” McHenry wrote. “Given your significant role in prosecuting the President, I do not believe that the leadership of the Department can trust you to assist in implementing the President’s agenda faithfully.”

The firings come as the the Trump administration is taking concrete steps to investigate prosecutors who oversaw the criminal cases against January 6 defendants after Trump vowed to seek retribution as a key pledge of his campaign, according to multiple sources who have seen an internal memo on the matter.

“..your significant role in prosecuting the President...”

The word “persecuting” was misspelled.

If these people contest the firings, Trump would get discovery to further justify the firings.
So if they resist, they are opening themselves up to more scrutiny.

Whats funny is they call it the Trump DOJ when his nominee is being slowballed.

This is all happening with just a holdover acting director—just wait for Bondi to assume control

Everyone involved in destroying J6 evidence belongs in prison. These are all people who very much knew better.

I’ve already seen comments from leftists elsewhere such as “this is an impeachable offense”. It’s amazing how the left and so many in the media (and even lefty professors) believe the DOJ is a separate branch from the Presidency and Trump has no say so regarding personnel.

The firing of DOJ attorneys by a new administration has been done by every President as far back as Reagan if my memory is correct.

LOL at this bit from an NBC article:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/justice-department/trump-administration-fires-doj-officials-worked-criminal-investigation-rcna189512

“Former Justice Department officials and legal experts have long argued that Trump should not retaliate against career civil servants who were simply doing their jobs and, in some cases, were assigned to the investigations. They said retaliating against the career prosecutors who worked on the Trump cases would have a chilling effect on the Justice Department workforce and undermine future investigations of improper acts by public officials.

“Firing prosecutors because of cases they were assigned to work on is just unacceptable,” said former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance, an NBC News legal contributor. “It’s anti-rule of law; it’s anti-democracy.””

The left is disappointed Trump isn’t going to allow “the resistance” party in the DOJ to stay in place so they can work against him for the next 4 years.

And just a reminder to the DOJ to investigate the bar associations of those states that dis-barred attorneys for representing Trump.

Lucky for them they were only fired. In past times and in many places today, they would have been executed.

"...But as for these enemies of mine, who did not want me to reign over them, bring them here and slay them before me.’” (Luke 19:27)

So true. When the communists took over Russia, anyone connected to the royal family was executed, including children. Same happened in many other countries. They don't just go after their political opponents, they wipe out the families of their opponents.
