Wonderful! Bon voyage
The most obvious problem with this potential ballot question is that the Calexit movement may be as foolish as the other movements that have dotted the landscape of American history. California may not even have the ability to divorce itself from the union according to the Constitution.
In 1869, following the Civil War, the Supreme Court ruled that the act of admitting a state into the Union was final, with ‘no place for reconsideration, or revocation except through revolution, or through consent of the states.’
There is too good of a chance that the rest of America would come and help them pack their bags, bringing a bag if necessary.

It will be the same as having China on our border but I’d definitely support it 100% f’n percent. Its new name could be Chicomifornia.
Needless to say, the rest of the country would, politically, be far better off with the likes of Pelosi, Swalwell, Schiff et al. off in a different country
However, since I’m in CA too, I will be voting NO on this idea.
As I recall, Texas retained it’s right to secede in its Sate constitution, as a condition of joining the Union as a state. Not sure about California. And in any case, I’m also pretty sure it would prompt a fight from the Feds.
Democrats nationally would be strongly opposed.
If you back out California votes, and electoral votes, from recent presidential elections, Republicans would win elections easily, if not for California’s large vote totals for Democrats.
If you back out Democrat California House membership, Republicans would control the House by a comfortable margin, rather than by a tight margin now.
No way that Democrats nationally would want California to leave the union.
It is amusing that they think they will retain sovereignty. California would make at least 3 lovely new Territories, some of which would immediately vie for Statehood.
So long as we get to keep the red counties and build a 30 ft. Wall around what’s left.
Well, if CA does that, you can pretty much guarantee that northern and Eastern CA will secede from the western coastal counties and rejoin the US.
Congress should pass a law that any state that passes a referendum to secede from the US will result in immediate cancellation of all social security and welfare payments to that State’s residents.

Yup. We get them OFF our backs. They are dead weight anyway. (But, when they get their huge quake, they’ll want our help AGAIN)
Can we donate?...........
Only if they include Oregon & Washington and a wall.
Let’s see—
Fiscally solvent and don’t need a dime of Federal money. Check.
Proven selfless mature altruistic leaders in charge. Check.
It’s what’s best for the Citizens of the state. Check.
Oh, wait.
I guess then the Feds will invade California, kill most of their men, burn their cities to the ground, and confiscate anything left. Right?
