NATO Boss Warns Russian Victory Would Seriously Damage Alliance’s Credibility

BRUSSELS (AP) – NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte warned on Thursday that a Russian victory over Ukraine would undermine the dissuasive force of the world´s biggest military alliance and that its credibility could cost trillions to restore.

NATO has been ramping up its forces along its eastern flank with Russia, Belarus and Ukraine, deploying thousands of troops and equipment to deter Moscow from expanding its war into the territory of any of the organization´s 32 member countries.

“If Ukraine loses then to restore the deterrence of the rest of NATO again, it will be a much, much higher price than what we are contemplating at this moment in terms of ramping up our spending and ramping up our industrial production,” Rutte said.

Ukraine isn’t a member of NATO, are they? Why the concern?

The Ukraine is not part of NATO deterrence.

So no matter if the Euro’s abuse of NATO standing was unavailing for their territorial goals.

What ruined their credibility was working towards making Ukraine a member in violation of agreements that they wouldn’t.

Trump should pull us out of NATO.

One reason Russia has been so aggressive and intransigent is because of NATO’s empire building expansion after the fall of the USSR.

Russia has always been paranoid and NATO’s attempt to surround western Russia just fed that paranoia.

Child Buggering NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte should have worried about NATO's credibility before NATO lost it.

NATO continually pokes the Bear and then comes running to America to go wrestle the bear for them.

It’s time for the USA to cut the apron strings and let Europe learn to walk and talk like a man on its own.

Europe, and our NATO partners, let their militaries disintegrate and expected the US to protect them. Meanwhile, they used state money to build industries to undercut the US and give social programs a boost. They did this on the backs of Americans, expecting us to pay for their protections. Keep in mind the images of German diplomats laughing at Trump when he informed them of the lack of NATO allies contributing to NATO.

Then comes Putin, also known as Vlad the Invader, and suddenly it becomes apparent that Western Europe is at huge risk. Ukraine, not a NATO ally is invaded. NATO members are threatened. Yet, virtually NONE of the NATO nations that advocate Russian defeat have produced financial or military support to Ukraine. Nope, they expect the US workers to foot the bill again for their protection.

Greenland, essential to the US supplying NATO in times of conflict, is controlled by Denmark. Denmark, a NATO leech that expects the United States to protect it AND make sure Greenland is viable in case of conflict. Denmark puts virtually nothing into Greenland, a strategic necessity for Europe, and never has.

Now, a NATO leader believes that the United States has to do more for Ukraine, while Europe still hasn’t delivered on the promises for equipment they made 2 years ago. NATO is a joke, it’s all the US and the US workers subsidizing socialist Europe. This general really cared about NATO, he would demand that Denmark hand over Greenland to the US, the NATO members that promised arms and financial support to Ukraine come through, and that Europe begin to re-arm for conflict.

Our “NATO allies” have financed the building of the Russian military via their purchase of Russian energy while largely mooching off the US taxpayer.

Yes, and World War 3 would also have a negative impact on NATO credibility, too.

Also continuing a very, very expensive war that cannot be won, and the outcome of which would have no effect on the American people, no matter who wins, also has a negative impact on NATO’s standing.

Saving the careers of a handful of neocons, war hawks and corrupt generals is not in the best interests of the American people either.

Yes, Russia may well be paranoid about NATO. On the other hand, nations like the Baltics, Poland, Finland, etc. etc. that have ‘enjoyed’ the embrace of Russia/USSR have good reasons to be paranoid about Russia.

Don’t know if it’s paranoia if ‘they’ are really out to get you.

If these countries was to feel safer, build their own military, or make friends. Most importantly, is to throw out old fears and prejudice, and GET ALONG.

In History books, it is told how Pax Brittania worked, and it was not so great for the occupied people. The same for Pax Americana. Keep America Safe, it is your only job. Building of the Empire, make us the Evil Empire to those people in whose countries we occupy. When you have a military base in a country, you are an occupying force.

---- "....Seriously Damage Alliance's Credibility"

The credibility is already well damaged. See:

"NATO released the Secretary General's annual Climate Change and Security Impact Assessment on Tuesday (9 July 2024). It notes that accelerating climate change has 'a profound impact on Allied security,' and stresses the need for NATO to remain fit for purpose in a rapidly changing environment."

NATO releases 2024 Climate Change and Security Impact Assessment Report NATO, 9 July 2024.

Accelerating climate change..... "Send more money" because "send more money" needs you to send more money.

---- "It's not Trumps War."

It's Joe Biden's war. It's Jake Sullivan's war. It's Anthony Blinken's war. It's Ursula von der Leyn's war. It's Josep Borrell's war. It's Mark Rutte's war.

Yup. It's also Zelensky's war, and Putin's war too.

Trying to hang the mess on President Trump will be the focus of the corrupt media for the coming days.

I’m afraid there is way too much history in that part of the world to ‘throw out the old fears and prejudices’.

Consider the history of Poland. Recreated in 1919, invaded by Lenin in 1920, divided by Hitler and Stalin in 1939. When WWII was over, Stalin got to keep the part of Poland he invaded in ‘39 and Poland was moved a few hundred miles west in compensation. And Poland fell under the indirect control of the USSR for the next 40 years.

So, of course Poland is going to ‘make friends’ by joining NATO.

The same can be said of the Baltic States as well as members of the Warsaw Pact. For some reason nations that have fallen under Russian/Soviet control don’t appear to have enjoyed the experience all that much.
